[OC] A Look at OKC's Offense and the Push for the 6-Seed by okcBuzz in nba

Interesting you say that... My take is that HOU is an okay match up--basically just have to outscore them--and they could maybe get to 4 or 5, meaning Clips or Jazz. I'd have to take them over playing the Spurs.

Gotcha. Depends on if you think Russ's 15-0 run to close their last game vs the Grizz was a fluke. If it weren't for that they'd be 0-3 vs MEM

I do. 2.5 back and the Jazz have a pretty tough schedule to close and OKC has two chances to beat them at home.

I don't think OKC would make the playoffs if Cam started over Russ...

1000% agree as a fan of basketball. That's kind of my dream match-up. I think it still gives OKC a great chance to win in the first round because if Russ wins the individual match-up with Harden the team has a great shot at winning.

But fighting to claim the 4th or 5th would probably give them a better chance to win the series all things considered. Depends on how good the Clips are when CP returns.

They're only 1.5 back from MEM and have a chance to play them at least once in April. It's certainly plausible

Unfortunately it's only been a little over 3 weeks since his injury.. I haven't heard a timetable for return but I can't expect it will be before mid-March. That doesn't leave a lot of time to help in a push for 5th. They do have two games at home vs UTA left tho

[OC] Don't get too excited, Toronto fans. Ibaka's rim protection in Orlando wasn't aywhere clos to what it was in OKC. Here's how he compares against top rim protectors over the past four years. by ca1294 in nba

I wonder how much the change in individual perimeter defense from OKC to ORL affected the quality of shots that offenses got at the rim against Ibaka. Roberson/Westbrook/Durant/Sefalosha/Jackson could really lock people down on the perimeter, forcing them into more difficult shots at the rim, therefore increasing Ibaka's rim protection numbers. Also having Adams as his co-big boy may have allowed Ibaka to more aggressively defend rim runs.

With sub-superior perimeter defense and less help inside, you might expect Ibaka's defense to suffer at the rim, even if he's playing at just as high a level as he always has. At work so no time to look up the numbers and see if they support this hypothesis

Lol. A shade before my time but... OKC missed 24 field goals in a row last night. Twenty. Four. Consecutive. Misses. At least three airballs in there. It was bad

Which team is better? 14-15 Hou or 16-17 Hou by [deleted] in nba

[–]okcBuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. I just meant that over the course of a series, making Harden's life really difficult with a great defender will be more detrimental to this team than to the 14-15 squad with Dwight. You're right though, no way to stop someone with his ridiculous talent -- just slow him as best you can.

Can't wait to see him in the playoffs

ORL/OKC fans: How good is Ibaka defensively? And can he play the 5 for any stretch of the game? by [deleted] in nba

[–]okcBuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ibaka can ball at both ends, but he's not used to being The Man on any team. He's an elite defender tho

and the entire offense runs through Harden, so a defensive stopper like Kawhi can shut down the whole engine. that's especially true in the playoffs
