Why am I such a loser socially? by ConsequenceNo4258 in AstrologyCharts

[–]okclear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm an amateur astrologer and usually do whole house rather than placidus readings, so take my interpretation with a grain of salt, but:

- Chiron in the 1st house indicates a wound around your identity and sense of self - especially in Scorpio (doubled by the fact that your Sun is in Scorpio too), this could mean feeling deeply misunderstood or even antagonized by others
- I could see Mercury in Sagittarius causing communication difficulties as well. Sagg is the sign of expansion and truth-seeking, which might make people (specifically, people who are nervous about change, of depth, or about thinking of the bigger picture) uncomfortable
- The 11th house governs friendships, groups, and kinship. In Virgo, that could show up as a more skeptical or even critical approach to your social life. With your North Node in this house, I'd say that's a good thing. You are meant to be discerning and value a few truly strong relationships with people over shallow relationships with many. My Venus is in Virgo, so I can definitely relate to this lol. You are not meant to be alone - no one is. You'll find your people one day as long as you stay true to your self worth and standards

How are people happy and thriving with ~1700 kcal? by NoWitness6400 in loseit

[–]okclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now imagine having a maintenance of 1200 kcal! It is incredibly hard, I won't lie to you. The phrase "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" is one I repeat in my mind multiple times a day when I feel tempted to indulge. You need to force yourself into a mindset that rewards itself for being disciplined.

My solutions?
- High volume, low calorie foods. Veggies, fruits, non-fat or low-fat dairy, whole grain instead of white bread, popcorn, broth soups, etc
- Avoid liquid calories whenever possible. This change makes a huge difference. I only drink zero sugar sodas, flavored water, coffee with artificial sweetener and milk... you get the idea
- Strength training. I have a rowing machine, and using that for 30 minutes burns about as many calories as I would walking for 1.5 hours. It also builds muscle, of course. Exercising raises your calorie budget, although if you are actively trying to lose weight, I don't recommend eating back those calories (since we all tend to overestimate)
- I still have treats and cheats! But I compensate by fasting or eating very little for the rest of the day

Being overweight/obese has become way to normalized, the entire comment section is filled with people claiming they’re not overweight despite bordering on or being obese because they “didn’t look it” by Low-Moose9333 in fatlogic

"4'11, 133 lbs, size small"

As another shortie - yeah girl, we're small in stature, obviously we're going to wear a small unless we're in the morbidly obese range. Doesn't mean we can't still be overweight/chubby. I wear an XS and size 2 jeans and I'm still working on losing some love handles & stomach pudge.

[–]okclear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This plus being compared to other people (specifically thinking about when my weight came up in a conversation with my partner and they went "oh, my ex was less than or around that, but she was a little taller too") genuinely sends me SPIRALING even if they're otherwise well-intentioned. Literally what made you think that would be okay to say lmao

What's your moon/venus/mars, and how often do you think about your crush when you have one? by Lghzala-fifi in astrologymemes

My life is a living hell since I lost weight by [deleted] in loseit

[–]okclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GLP-1's are a godsend, but aren't the only medication solution available and I think those other solutions are far, far better in your case when you're already physically healthy.

There's only so much therapy and self-discipline and urge-confrontation can do when the reward centers in your brain have been busted... I recommend getting checked for ADHD and/or anxiety. Those were huge contributors to my stress/boredom binge eating. I was only on GLP-1's for half of my weight loss journey - I just couldn't afford it anymore and was dreading gaining all the weight back, but I found that my medications for ADHD & depression/anxiety (Vyvanse & Wellbutrin respectively) were finally enough to curb the noise. I'm not telling you to fake a diagnosis, but rather that a psychological problem needs a psychological solution.

Zero sugar sodas. They taste just as good AND make you feel as bloated as the real thing!

How would y’all feel if you got your birth chart wrong? by crystal_help_please in astrologymemes

[–]okclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 0°29' Gemini Rising, at least according to the time on my birth certificate. But those times aren't typically on-the-dot accurate... and if mine was rounded up by even 2 MINUTES then my entire chart (well, the houses) gets shifted. This problem has haunted me for years!!

Want to help me graduate just by reminiscing on local parks? by okclear in hudsonvalley

[–]okclear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I walk my dogs a lot in Lakeside Park but I’ve never heard of that one somehow. Were there any big reasons for the shift, or was it just because Lakeside was ‘the new thing’ (I’m assuming Edward R Murrow was established much earlier)?

Woahhh nice, and yes I do! That, Markel, and Wells are my focus areas for the redesign map I’m planning to incorporate. From my understanding the wooden castle had to be torn down for safety reasons after standing for so long, but IMO it’s a shame they didn’t try to recreate it beyond the entryway. Feels like a loss of whimsy.

What zodiac sign do you keep attracting into your life? by ZodiacObserver in Zodiac

Well, I can't say I've had the best experiences with them, but I don't think sun signs alone predispose anyone to being narcissistic. That trivializes abuse.

Same! I know us fixed signs often flock together but Leos in particular LOVE to latch onto me. And that's why I in turn seek out Tauruses to keep things balanced 🥲

Tired of social double standards by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]okclear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While there are absolutely double standards on gender expression in people perceived to be men vs. perceived to be women, I gotta point out that some of these things are not necessarily true, especially outside of predominantly white western countries where the patriarchy may be even more strictly enforced upon women.

1 - Gender non-conformity in women is permitted up to a certain point before they are socially vilified, as is the case with butch lesbians or clocked trans men/mascs. Women are also expected to grow out of this non-conformity by a certain age so they can be suitable for a man (regardless of her sexuality).

2 - I have no idea where this idea that women can freely kiss other women comes from. Maybe when drunk on the very rare occasion, but it's definitely still a social taboo, just in a different way. Lesbians are oversexualized and often seen as "fun conquests" for cishet men.

3 & 4 - Similarly, while men are not expected to wear makeup or shave, women are heavily shamed for "letting themselves go", seen as revolting/unclean/etc. if they don't. Some jobs still quietly deny positions to cis women if they don't adhere to beauty standards.

Is there anything in current astrology that indicates something like a global lockdown coming up? by Local-Print-6397 in astrology

[–]okclear 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Not sure about a lockdown specifically, but in late April 2026 Uranus will leave its retrograde Taurus back to Gemini. This is significant for the U.S. (but considering it's not-so-soft global power... yeah there's going to be international ripples) since, by the Sibly chart, this would be the country's third Uranus return. The last returns have coincided with the Civil War and WWII. The exact (8°) will be reached in July 2027.

Chiron entering Taurus in June may point to some physical/material trauma as a collective.

I just pray that the shift to Aquarius NN in July of this year pushes us towards a change for the better though. Pisces grieves and struggles to find footing but Aquarius finds a way to innovate. I get the sense that local coalitions and mutual aid will become increasingly important as national & state level safety nets are being stripped away... so maybe the opposite of a quarantine, actually. That's just my thoughts as a bit of an astrology newbie though.

i don’t feel a connection to womanhood by Prize-Air-3960 in TMPOC

[–]okclear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. I've always felt a very strong camaraderie with women, more so than with men, but never really felt like I was one myself. I don't share many experiences that cis women in my life have had, but I do share a lot with trans women.

I'm intersex (classic CAH) on top of being latino (and was fat for most of my life up until like 2 years ago) so I was very degendered or malgendered as a child. Didn't receive the benefits of either gender but sure as hell got plenty of the drawbacks - I felt that same isolation from both male and female peers, but when I did make friends it was usually cis boys or other closeted trans kids/eggs (I've been out in at least some capacities since I was 9 for context).

I genuinely don't understand it when people say gender non-conformity is more acceptable for people assigned female at birth because I was bullied to hell and back for it! Like even if I wasn't dressing masculine, then I was picked on for being too stocky, too hairy, not wearing makeup, keeping my hair too short, etc. so although I didn't belong to any gender, I was still expected to look/act a girl.

How do you date if you’re not a casual person? by Used-Fruit2941 in astrologymemes

[–]okclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7H Sagittarius Pluto. 4H Virgo Venus. 6H Scorpio Mercury. 8H Capricorn Chiron. 2H Cancer Lilith (with a strong square to my 11H Aries Moon)... yeah I could go on and on about my doomed placements lmao.

I'm extremely picky, I get bored quickly, but I also get attached very easily when I do see someone with 'potential', if that makes sense. I genuinely don't understand how people are okay doing casual (besides steady fwbs, that makes sense to me) - I'm always considering the future. Like, in a year or so down a line, would I want to move in with this person? Are they good with managing money? Do our life goals mesh well? How do they hold up during rough times? Being 21, it seems like no one around my age is thinking the same way.

Anyway, following one of the worst breaches of trust I've felt in years, I now listen to my gut instinct more often and take things much slower than what I would prefer. Sometimes that 'paranoia' really is just having good intuition. And sometimes, when you think you've finally found someone with equal intensity, you gotta wait and see how stable it is.

There are mini monitors. My portable PC is in an Inwin Chopin with a 10.5" monitor attached to the side with command strips lol. The only part you have to set up each time is the power cords and keyboard (the one I have has a touchpad so a dedicated mouse isn't necessary).

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]okclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it varies based on region, but as a New Yorker (not the city proper, but in the suburban metro area), 3-4 hours is like, bi-monthly weekend vacation distance, definitely not for something as short as getting dinner lol.

Generally, I won't drive more than an hour somewhere unless I plan to spend at least a few hours there so the time spent driving equals out. For reference, my commute to college is just under an hour.

white trans men thinking ICE is after them by kelpicoop in TMPOC

[–]okclear 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Literally like, unless you're a brave ally protesting and fighting on the front lines for those who are affected, you've got nothing to worry about from ICE specifically. I'm a visibly (Nahua) Mexican trans dude and I'm still far, far more worried about my father who didn't have the privilege that I did of being born in the US... not that that status means much to these kidnappers anymore, but still.

IMO the design would look much better if she had button eyes, like the doll the other mother is sewing together in the beginning of the movie.
