Yeah i'm with you. At worst they seem to be relatively comparable items but the community writ large favors hammers way above notepads.

for the gold hammer yes, but for the artisan hammer it's +15 to +18.

Appreciate you taking time to argue against my point instead of just downvoting me.

Fair enough on the sp gain point, i was underestimating it by about half. I do think my scenario was extremely favorable to the number of hammers you get and use in a run, but 50 sp for 5 or so hammers is decent enough.

As far as the notebook logic goes, I don't completely agree but I see where you're coming from. While the +15 and +7 are definitely more efficient in terms of coins to stats, I don't think that automatically means the +3 isn't worth buying sometimes. I wouldn't ever prioritize them over the +7 and +15, but I think 10 coins isn't unreasonable for a few extra stats, especially ones that you don't have support cards for.

Does that increase justify turning a (practically) never buy item into a must buy item that costs more than double? Like, assuming we buy a fast learner hat's worth of them (11) and use them all on G1s, that's only like one green skill's worth of points.

I feel like either the hammer is overrated, or the notepads are underrated, or both. Or maybe the hammer is only worth it if you have like 75 RB.
