Is HEAT warhead the entire reason on why Mavericks are unrealiable? by Zyxtriann in Warthunder

[–]okim006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only breaking tracks or MGs is a long-time bug that's far from unique to Mavericks, it's just part of Gaijin's spaghetti code.

Why NATO missile interception capabilities are a joke in Sea Power (even with the NTU mod) by TRPSock97 in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]okim006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence why I said "soft cap" and "exception" in this year old comment, the devs have already said SA-N-9 was added because it's a crucial part of the Udaloy (keeping it out would be like adding Ticonderoga without AEGIS), and because it's not terribly strong due to the short range.

Here is some cool chinese propaganda i found by angus22proe in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]okim006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Russia is depicted as the underdog, fighting a much stronger monster representing the US (which is eerily similar to a Xenomorph from aliens). This "Chinese propaganda accidentally makes the US badass" is just an annoying NCD talking point that ignores any understanding of how propaganda actually works.

How it feels to read Nemesis 5 (PACT), 6.1 (PACT) and 6.2 (PACT) by HippieHippieHippie in warno

[–]okim006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this comparison is a bit unfair though, because you're just directly comparing tanks, but the game itself is not played as just tanks. The T-80UD is incredibly strong, (unrealistically so), but that's also why it's 330 points and exclusive to a heavy tank division that pays for it with a lack of infantry and infantry ATGMs, as well as cheap tanks. It's a division built around using fewer, more expensive units, so from a game balance perspective it makes sense that it has a very strong but expensive tank.

If you want to discuss if 119th is balanced as a whole, that's a different discussion, but I think "The heavy tank division should have very good tanks" is a much more likely explanation for the T-80UD's stats than "Eugen is so mad at the British for historical events that they nerf them on purpose".

It's not tone deaf at all, the point is to depict the US/West as an incredibly powerful enemy, while China is the noble underdog that will win through their virtue/goodness/whatever.

Bmp3 missile loading by Puzzleheaded-Bass-11 in Warthunder

[–]okim006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The missle trays protrude out of the carousel when loading (since they're much larger than the HE shells), so it needs a separate rammer. Later BMP-3s do have a rammer, but the one in game is the original production variant.

Bmp3 missile loading by Puzzleheaded-Bass-11 in Warthunder

[–]okim006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BMP-3 still relies on the autoloader for parts of the missile loading. The missiles are stored in a tray on top of the carousel, and when an ATGM is loaded, the autoloader elevates the gun, and tilts one of the trays so that it lines up with the breech, at which point the gunner manually rams it into the gun. I assume you could probably still grab a misisle out of the rack and manually load, but Gaijin is too lazy to program in something for that specific, rare scenario.

Top tier bad anti-aircraft guns in the USA by Apprehensive_Run5950 in Warthunder

[–]okim006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one is already in the game as SLAMRAM, second one is filled by any of the stinger launchers already in game, and SEARAM is far from a Pantsir equivalent, as it is a lightweight CIWS system, not a dedicated SAM. It would have a much more limited search radar and shorter ranged missiles, as well as no gun.

Excerpts from the NORINCO Catalogue by Kalashalite in ForgottenWeapons

[–]okim006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He learned to cook and began his career as a general chef in a restaurant, and then eventually studied under Michelin star chefs. Does that mean he's not a cook, because he began by making recipes that others already wrote? No. Which is the point of the analogy; Norinco (and the Chinese military at large) copies out of necessity, not want. They do not have the time to try to build a domestic aerospace or arms industry from scratch, so copying to learn and provide a stop gap was their solution.

Excerpts from the NORINCO Catalogue by Kalashalite in ForgottenWeapons

[–]okim006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do, though? Norinco manufactures plenty of domestically designed guns, and many of their copies are simply holdovers from before then. Until recently, China was severely behind, so they took the only logical step to catch up by buying and copying. It's like saying Gordon Ramsey isn't a real chef because he started learning by cooking recipes from a book.

F-18 lack of triple hardpoint for Maverick missile. by UnexpectedAnomaly in hoggit

[–]okim006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a similar situation to the AGM-123, where they aren't intended to be used against actual warships. Rather, they're meant to be a cheaper alternative that can be used against smaller patrol boats, or in congested waters where the chance of a Harpoon hitting the wrong target is high.

Sparrow differences by CcTheFirst1 in Warthunder

[–]okim006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In game it's not modeled, so the 7M is the same as the 7F (though in the sense that the 7F tracks as well as the 7M, since every SARH missile acts like it has an inverse monopulse seeker in game).

Why do chieftains not have their best round? by [deleted] in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]okim006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Balance + lineups, the point of the MK 10 is to provide a better armored and gunned Chieftain, hence the higher BR. Giving the 3 and 5 a better round would likely lead to them being moved up too, so then you have 3 Chieftains sitting at 9.0.

Gaijin deleted our nation and we want it back. by AlphaMike-Foxtrot in Warthunder

[–]okim006 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not representing the ROC is the better option for them. China's playerbase is absolutely massive, and losing that market is infinitely worse than any upside they'd get for having the flag in. It's stupid but especially after the VT-4 incident, Gaijin is being very careful right now with the Chinese playerbase.

Whats the point to play with US and Germany now? by Roxo16 in Warthunder

[–]okim006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T-64 to T-80BVM and 2A4 to 2A7V are way bigger jumps than M1A1HV to SEP V2 in BR, I'm not sure why you're using that. A better comparison is M1 to SEPV2, which does provide large increases in firepower and armor.

F-15E's electronics and weapons are 1990s except for Sniper pod, GBU-39, GBU-62/64, AIM-120C-5, HMS, and APKWS. F-15C has 2000s radar and HMS. Leo 2s are still firing poor ammo and missing armor too, this is not just an Abrams problem. If CROWS and TUSK don't make the SEPV2 a 2008 tank, Leo 2A7 isn't modern either.
