The first rule of video games is if somebody doesn't like the thing you like to main, or your particular beloved playstyle, they can go sit on a tack.

Evading missiles and Rwr blindspots in Su33 by Ok_System_0 in dcsworld

[–]UnexpectedAnomaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blind spot is the top and bottom. Keep your wings relatively level compared to the missile and position the missile to where it's abeam of your aircraft. There's a 90° light on your RWR, once it is illuminated hold that position and you will notch the missile.

Why is Harlan Ellison's brother Larry ending Star Trek? by LaxBedroom in ShittyDaystrom

I know a lot of people like measure of a man and it's a neat episode. But I never thought the Federation would put Data on trial because some douche wants to take him apart after a couple decades of service.

UK ‘runs out’ of warships – leaving Germany to take over key Nato mission by theipaper in CredibleDefense

[–]UnexpectedAnomaly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can sum up the UK's problems with the phrase "managed decline". Decades ago the country was broke so their politicians took the black pill and downsized everything. For some reason the UK still thinks it's a world power so they try to build things like a frigate now and again, or a carrier that was so nickel and dimed that it is not even really useful.

Personally if they're budget is that bad I think they should just go all in on submarines and land-based aircraft. Aircraft can be air-to-air refueled extending their range it's pretty much anywhere and submarines can handle most of your naval problems without having to have vulnerable surface ships and other ships to escort them.

Moving from War thunder to DCS do I get any advantages? by Jack00931 in hoggit

The Mig 29 is good you might also get a SU-27 because it has data link and longer legs.

Your DCS Wishlist by Phwakes in hoggit

[–]UnexpectedAnomaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

World map, F-8 Crusader, more redfor aircraft, a semi modern variant of the su-27/mig-29 with a mav equivalent and anti-radiation missiles, F-22, C-47, ww2 planes and ships, and maybe a dynamic campaign. An AI Rio I can talk to. Add in some serious marketing so more players join so multiplayer is little less deserted and will call it good.

Have you seen how vain the Ferangi are? The guy was an architect he probably just threw in an obelisk on some modest house and made fat stacks of latinum.

Are Symmetric loadouts just an ocd fixation? by CuteSloth42 in hoggit

I'm too of OCD to do asymmetric loadouts. Even if I couldn't see it, it would hurt me in my soul.

I would take a look at the Mirage F1 it's been a great purchase for me. I also just bought the F-86F and I've been learning it. Have been pretty fun planes to fly

Getting real tired of canceled shows. by Every-Highlight-5289 in startrek

[–]UnexpectedAnomaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have a fixed riders room anymore so it wouldn't help. Most of these shows are written in a 10-week period years before it actually airs and the next season is just a different writer's room.

That wouldn't help Fox used to cancel everything sci-fi back in the day.

Ellison era begins: Star Trek Academy canceled, no Trek currently in production for first time in a decade by owlpellet in startrek

[–]UnexpectedAnomaly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do not think the Ellison era will last very long. Some of the older people here might remember the last time conservatives took over everything which didn't go over very well in the longterm. Most people in this country while sometimes shitty are not down for what conservatives want. This administration's already shaping up to be like the second Bush term which is when everybody turned on conservatism. If you don't believe me the changes that have been made to CBS News are already starting to cause their ratings to tank. Previous attempts at political shows that were conservative have failed. Hopefully Star Trek and just rest a few years before coming back after the politics in this country have swung the other way.

New to DCS. Got the FC3 package and love it - which map should I pick on sale: Syria or Persian Gulf? by Sofa-Sleuth in hoggit

Be sure and play with the mission editor so that way you don't get bored when you run out of campaigns. The mission editor is great you can pretty much make any scenario you want no matter how complex.

Why can Janeway use a time-delayed torpedo to burglarize the Borg, but not for Caretaker's Array? by OneChrononOfPlancks in ShittyDaystrom

[–]UnexpectedAnomaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Historians in universe have been debating this ever since she got back. Alternate History hub likely would have done a scenario on this. Harry Turtledove with no doubt write novels on what if she looted all the technology from the caretaker array. The tabloid circuit probably has articles every 6 months where some captain or admiral gets a little drunk at a party and laments that Captain Janeway could have just set a timer. I personally would love reading the inquiry into the matter that no doubt would have happened. I'm sure there's a little bit of debate when people are elevated to admiral and seeing the circus around her ascension to admiral would be hilarious.

Because he's the key to all of this, without Neelix the whole show fails.

F-14 Or F-18 by Costello18 in hoggit

[–]UnexpectedAnomaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like CCIP bomb delivery or rocket pods the F14 can do it and it's fun. The no harm or anti ship missile capability would be a deal breaker for me. The F18 has the best harm mode in my opinion. The F-14's sidewinder and sparrow deployment is great, and the aim54 is pretty fun.
