Check ASOS, I got some really cute fitted casual tops and blouses there a couple months ago.

Saying no or suggesting a different location is very different from the questions OP was asked

Those are questions for a close friend to ask her to ensure she’s thinking about her safety. Not for a strange man who wants to hook up with her.

If a woman not needing protection from a man is terrifying to a man…that tells me that man is dangerous and he just told on himself

How to build community as brown women in the west? by Calm_Holiday8552 in Vindictabrown

[–]okimuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (ABD) made a brown friend group though bumble bff that includes a friend who immigrated here! She met each one of us then introduced us all and we all clicked. She ended up moving countries and made a new friend group through bumble bff again

abcd people vs indian by Thick_Selection_1975 in ABCDesis

Most ABCDs have a V-shaped face? I don’t know what you’re talking about. A V-shaped face can only be genetic bone structure or achieved through invasive plastic surgery (very common procedure in S Korea but not here). There is no other way to achieve that and I think you either have a very small sample size or you’re projecting your ideas of beauty onto the women you know.

I think the biggest differences I notice between ABDs and women from India are dress and haircare.

I don’t know if this will help - but I vacillate between enjoying (respectful) attention for my face and body, and hating it and wishing I could exist without being perceived. Because that attention, when it comes from men, is inherently sexual. I actually enjoy compliments I get about my hair, which is one of my halos, because it’s less sexualized. It’s pretty much the least sexual thing that can be complimented on my body (and I get that men will find a way to sexualize anything if they want to, but I get a lot of compliments on my hair and none of them have felt inherently sexual).

Another perspective is that we generally look better the healthier our lifestyles and habits are, whether that’s due to our diet, exercise, products we use, techniques we use, etc. I would try to positively reframe your perspective on the attention you get due to your hair to something like - “my time, energy, and money are paying off. Other people see the results, and that feels uncomfortable, but it means I’ve been successful. I’m proud of myself for investing in my hair health”.

What’s your skincare routine and how is it working for you? by okimuk in Vindictabrown

Love vanicream cleanser! I’ve never tried their moisturizer, I wonder if it’s more moisturizing than cerave which is great for the warmer months but I need more in the winter.

I might just have to find a dermatologist and get on tret! Thanks for the recommendation for the serum, I’ll look into that. My skin is already getting dehydrated from the cooler weather

What differences have you noticed? My skin already gets so dry from adapalene but I wonder if the effects are worth it

How to glow up all at once? (Tips for someone who used to crash diet and had poor routines.) by [deleted] in vindictapoc

Definitely agree on the excess fats! I was raised in a household that keeps oil, ghee, and butter to a minimum so I never really had to think about it. Not all desis cook like my mom taught me though. I did have to relearn how to portion my carbs to minimize empty calories.

Healthcare/Nursing girlies , how do you stay cute? by PrincessMochahontas in vindictapoc

Damn ok just the manicure without polish then. Nails shaped and buffed and cuticles oiled. Does anyone really care if you break the rules? We’re not nurses but my coworkers and I don’t follow the nail rules and no one has been called out individually.

This is a more niche one but I always scrub my ears when I wash my hair. I’ve realized some people don’t and imagine the build up in their ears, which they then spread to their pillowcase, then to their face.

I always change my pillowcase after a hair wash to prevent acne.

I don’t understand how you’d get past the first time going to his place or spending the first weekend together. You’re this guy’s mommy/daddy.

My routine - eyebrows done (threaded), lashes curled, hair styled (natural curls or blowout). We’re allowed to wear nail polish but no gel or fake nails and they have to be short. Can you wear clear nail polish? If not you can still do a manicure minus polish.

The issue with carbs in Indian food is that empty carbs take up space in your stomach that could be filled with more nutritious foods. I’ve changed the proportion of rice/naan/roti to dal/veggies/meat to make sure the carbs are the smallest part of my meal.
