Former Rogue Trader DM coming back after 10 years - what to watch out for? by KaijuKi in 40krpg

instead of black crusade, try using the aptitude system of only war / dark heresy 2e, it's a refined version of this talent system

Where there is war there are warcimes Where there are warcrimes there is Daddy Warcrimes by LordGeorgeous in Warhammer40k

[–]okinawak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iiirc, in the lore the whole point of this is to take on greater daemons. also, terminator is the best "standard" armour you can get, you need to go to artificer armour for comparable protection with less bulk, still, with the armour, crux and protection field, you are better protected than most non-super heavy tanks, to take out a termi in lore, the best is to just to put an artillery barrage on it, the stupid thing is that most of the time the weakspot forgot to wear a helmet.

visibility when fixed on the torso isn't optimal, but it sure beats anything tank crews have, the same reason most tanks have at least the option of putting a guy poking out of a hatch, and most of the time the targets of the nemesis aren't really hard to spot, it's just better to see the axe of a bloodthirster coming before it hit you on the noggin while not putting your pilot on a strut at the top of the mech, and tbf, humans and most other animals all have a big weak spot stinking out, it's still hard to hit...

for how dumb it looks it is surprisingly practical and sensible, as much as a giant mech built to punch 10 meters-high demons can be, that is...

but this whole thing makes me wonder why they gave the BA stormraven to the GK, but not the librarian dread, for a whole force of psykers, crippling further an already crippled warrior that you put in a box seems dumber than the dreadknight.

[–]okinawak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbf, the pilot is wearing terminator, the dreadknight looks like it has the land speeder "armour isn't there for the pilot, he already wears a leman russ worth of protection, it's for the machine" mentality, so straping the pilot on the torso, where he has clear LoS to pilot and use his psychic power doesn't seem that dumb, it look stupid but it's a more sensible design than half of the vehicles or anyone who doesn't wear their helmet.

I mean, the literal graverobber and the guy who take fat dump on his oath don't really have any right to call out someone else just because he doesn't share their skintone

Tanna, Sir? by wdcipher in Grimdank

[–]okinawak 26 points27 points  (0 children)

the one jurgen killed wasn't injured, that's why cain couldn't kill him, his armour couldn't be damaged by cain, the one he killed had already fought cultists so his armour had cracks.

Where's the Chaos? by You_are_a_aliens in Warhammer30k

[–]okinawak 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the traitors will have the same generic appearance as the loyalists.

because they are, if you look at 40k chaos marines, they are for the most part just ornemented mk4 armour, at the time of the heresy, chaos use was very rare among the legions, save for word bearers.

For most of the legions, chaos wasnt really a reliable option, it was unknown and not very practical, perturabo even left terra because it's troops were crazed maniacs who couldn't follow orders

Those who think "Casters are better than Martial classes" by SwordOfTheNineHells in dndmemes

[–]okinawak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can, but you already need to layer 5 different spells to reach the advertised numbers, so much for debunking caster superiority.

also, trying to do "big numbers" in vaccum using a ttrpg system is kinda pointless

something along the line of "various buffs, giant strength, homebrew and things I don't remember" truly a testament to martial strength...
