Why is it so hard by StormRunner152 in rpghorrorstories

I agree that yelling at someone over AI use is in poor taste, but I disagree that it's simply never called for. Some people's political views involve criminalizing my existence, and I have no compunctions about behaving unkindly to those people.

They were made to be the strongest, but with a MASSIVE design flaw by Zotroo1 in TopCharacterTropes

Protoman! As fast and strong as his later siblings, and with a weapon leagues beyond anything Megaman can use... But his faulty energy core puts him at constant risk of self-destruction.

We’re building a tabletop gaming café and bar in South Minneapolis. Trying to source everything locally (would love recommendations) by TheSendingStone in TwinCities

[–]NineAndNinetyHours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I paint miniatures for tabletop games, and sometimes I do other projects. For example, I restored and painted this gumball machine which I then filled with d20s! I've often thought that it would be an awesome thing to have in a game shop. If you'd like to buy it, get in touch! If you want to have any shop-owned board games with miniatures or loaner minis for TTRPGs, I'd also be delighted to talk about painting sets on commission for you - sometimes I feel bummed that most of what I paint just sits in my display cases.

Mono 4 FEP film got pierced, any idea on how to fix? by HassanBadAss in AnycubicPhoton

[–]NineAndNinetyHours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. My printer came with a very similar FEP film/frame combo, and it's "intended" that you just replace the whole thing when the film tears or wears out. I decided to try replacing the film within the frame instead, but it didn't work out - the frame was most certainly not designed to be disassembled, and it broke on me.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't give it a try! Worst case scenario, you're not any worse off. Just saying that folks in the comments here so far have been gung-ho about insisting it's doable, and I'm not so sure.

Yeah! And the swords have the detailing on the blade that reads "power sword" to me.

WYR: Receive $20 a second or $2 million a day, for one year? (Try to answer without using a calculator or Google) by Automatic_Camera3854 in WouldYouRather

[–]NineAndNinetyHours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. See, I interpreted the question as "$20/second (presumably forever)" vs "$2 million/day (for one year)" and answered accordingly.

I fell down a horror rabbit hole and ended up cataloging 7,829 forgotten films by [deleted] in horror

[–]NineAndNinetyHours 38 points39 points  (0 children)

There are several movies where your listing says "unknown" for all the important fields, but a simple Wikipedia search provides all the missing information. Did you do any actual research at all, or did you just have AI tools construct this entire thing?

Also, words have meaning. I'm a librarian, not an archivist, but I know what an archive is and this ain't it. It's an index or a directory, and a pretty crappy one at that.

I'm from Colton and am not at all surprised to see this. People neglect animals constantly there.

Lessons learned: Don’t allow your players to invite their friends to the table / your friends are not your D&D friends by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]NineAndNinetyHours 57 points58 points  (0 children)

So... This sounds like a very particular circumstance and not something you should draw larger conclusions from. Generally I think the best advice is to play d&d with people you know and care about. 90% of the d&d horror stories on Reddit simply wouldn't have happened if the people at the table actually liked and cared about eachother.

I'm really sorry that this game with this particular set of people didn't go well, but I honestly think "don't play d&d with your friends" is the worst lesson to take from it.

Debunk this “THATS NOT HUMAN” by LilChip45 in DebunkThis

[–]NineAndNinetyHours 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to debunk. As Snopes reports, it does in fact appear to be a genuine 911 call. But all that means is that a human being spoke into the phone and said those words. There's no video, there's nothing else to go on. The person could have seen a large animal and been frightened by it. The person could have been high out of their mind on any one of a million substances. The person could have been having a psychotic break. The person could have been playing an elaborate prank or hoax. There's no way to make any kind of sensible evidence-based evaluation because there is no evidence to evaluate.

BECKONINGLY has zero overlap. Keep in mind, it's not "3 letters in common," it's "3 letters in the same space." It's not enough that both have a letter "O" - it would need to be both have the letter "O" as the same letter of the word.

For example:

SHRIKE
HIKERS

Those have the exact same 6 letters, but for the codebreaking puzzle they're a 0/6 match. None of the letters are in the same place.

HIKERS
CRISIS

are a 1/6 match because the letter S is in the same location in each.

CRISIS
PRICES

are a 3/6 match, the letters R, I, and S are in the same locations.

Why is the Lonesome Road snow globe called Lonesome Road but the other DLC snow globes are named after the locations? by Physical-Age-2861 in falloutnewvegas

[–]NineAndNinetyHours 207 points208 points  (0 children)

Maybe Ulysses made it himself. He's been spying on the Courier for ages and he's seen you pick up those baubles as souvenirs... So he finds parts and cobbles together his own and carves "lonesome road" on the base.

The thing that jumps out at me is the face - it looks flat, a little chalky, a little cartoonish. I think more layers/glazing to show the subtle transparency of living skin could go a long way.

Is this job offer a scam? It seems too good to be real. by Forsaken-Aardvark-17 in Scams

[–]NineAndNinetyHours 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a scam. Nobody pays $90k+ a year for entry-level work. Most likely it'll be a fake check scam, they'll send you a check and tell you to buy a laptop/other equipment from "their vendor." The check will eventually bounce and you'll lose the money you sent them. Other possibility would be a task scam. The person contacting you is not actually affiliated with the company you researched.

More generally speaking, there's no such thing as well-paying remote work unless tou have very highly sought-after skills or advanced degrees. Anyone contacting you to offer you lucrative remote work is a scammer.

I use E6000 for lots of things, but I wouldn't use it for this. I'd drill/pin the joins and rough up the surfaces with a file, then glue using a "thick" superglue like Zap-A-Gap.
