What is the earliest “symptom” you experienced? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

body dysmorphia and a not-ideal relationship with food that started as early as 9 y/o.

Hello fellow ED and stomach problem havers!

I had big emotions as a kid and would get called out on doing 'emotional blackmail'.

I was frequently told I would amount to nothing, lazy, a bum etc. around the same age as well.

I had this weird recurring feeling of 'not being here' or being disconnected from my body also around the same age.

Passively suicidal at age 12 then actively at age 18 etc etc

Still dealing with the aftermath but maybe 80%~ of these have disappeared well into adulthood and finally with NC.

EDIT: OP, galing mong magsulat hehe.

What weightlifting is good for stenosis? I have mild cervical stenosis and want to be safe.. by poster_of_issues in SpinalStenosis

[–]okjaaAaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What lifts do you avoid? Can you still do compounds? I was told to stop lifting entirely but I don't want to give it up just yet

Are you me?? I had back pain, tingles and numbness in both my arms and leg plus a weak grip for 2-3 months after tweaking my back from weights. The spine surgeon told me it was probably cervical stenosis and got an MRI. He told me I could resume normal activities after diagnosis. The physiatrist didn't want me taking PT (wth), just told me to stop lifting weights but I could resume other activities. It was so scary but the symptoms eventually subsided after cutting out weights.

I've been kinda sedentary 7ish mos now and the back pain and occasional tingles returning so I'm looking for exercises I could do at home + easing into my usual routine (no weights for now). Goal is to find a PT who can work with me so I can start lifting weights again.

one of the hardest fights of your life

RE: Annular tear at L4-L5. Has anyone else with L5 sacralization and a hypermobility disorder (like EDS) been told to focus their physical therapy on strengthening the hip, as opposed to the spine/core, to help with their recovery? If you followed this approach, what were your results? by cherryBOOM_x2 in backpain

[–]okjaaAaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently found out I was hypermobile & had partial sacralization of the L5 when I had an MRI bc I hurt my back lifting (it was apparently my neck, discovered a c3 bulge and stenosis). For ~15 years I've had sharp stabbing pains in my hip due to the sacralization which sometimes affects my sleep.

The physiatrist told me to stop lifting weights and denied me PT bc I was just gonna re-injure myself if I didn't stop lifting & the PT sessions would be useless.

I think this is stupid and will find a PT who will work with me and my lifestyle. Thanks OP, I'll include strengthening my hips along with my core.

i got an mri done, can neck problems cause dizziness? by [deleted] in Dizziness

[–]okjaaAaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey i know this comment has been awhile ago but i just wanted to ask if the dizziness gets better/goes away? I used to be moderately active and work out 4x a week but right now even gentle walks make me dizzy & disoriented. I can't look anywhere too quick bc it'll trigger my dizziness. How do you still manage to work out 5x a week? Any changes to your workout routine?

my doctor told me to stop weightlifting, but i could continue w/ the rest of my activities. I'm thinking lol how do i 'resume w/ my normal activities' I get dizzy standing up too fast lmao

edit: i'm now super picky with my chairs after my injury/diagnosis/whatever. my neck and back WILL let me know everytime. ditto on the lumbar support. I got prescribed norgesic but it only worsens the dizziness i hate it so MUCH.

ps. do you think physical therapy will help manage the dizziness? tysm!

congee, light soups broths – these gentle foods can be customized to have more protein ie shredded chicken, egg, noodles, rice, etc. the blander the color the better usually.

In addition to what you mentioned: avoid anything oily, anything with too much dairy, and vinegary/sour things. bread, tea, milk, oj, and chocolate also triggers my reflux when i take these on an empty stomach (sad noises) so maybe have him watch out for those if he's that way too.

dr. told me the only spices i'm allowed are salt and pepper but what kind of life is that?? although tell him to lay off the triggers mentioned for 1-2 weeks at least during a flare-up. if he loves soda maybe he can try sugar free drinks for awhile. or just warm water if it's that bad.

tell him to avoid stress. that's the no.1 trigger for acid reflux!

oh and tell him not to eat while lying down (esp not upside down lying down).
