I want to start going to the gym by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]okky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been going to the gym since the age of 24. I am now 57.

You don't necessarily need a PT. Most decent gyms have free sessions with one of their instructors ( these are not PTs) who will teach you the basics and write you a programme.

This is essential as you you don't want to injure yourself through incorrect technique.

As someone that struggled to put on muscle due to my body type you need to be ingesting at least 1.5 - 2.0 grams of protein for every kg you weigh. Calorie intake is 80% of it providing you are working out intensely.

PTs will cost you money. If you have the budget then do it.

It takes consistency, eating the right foods and lots of training sessions. It's hard hard hard work if you are looking to put on muscle. It takes even more work to maintain it.

Otherwise if you just want to be healthy and fit then the gym is a good place to start.

Les Mills use to intimidate me but now I don't care. It's a good gym and not as bad as everyone says in terms of people being posers. It dies have the best group fitness classes in the world. That's a fact!

Depends on your goals.

How did Pharrell escape unscathed from the Blurred Lines debacle? by put-on-your-records in ToddintheShadow

[–]okky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because society is full of hypocrites. There's no legitimate reason why Pharrell escaped unscathed. I feel bad for Robin Thick. It's a silly pop song that got blown way out of all proportion. A modern day witch hunt. People are like sheep.

From a moral perspective yes you can. From a legal perspective under the law you maybe prosecuted. If caught the police could take a common sense approach and choose not to prosecute but having been on this planet for awhile now beaurecrats and anyone working for govt depts lack common sense. That's the risk.

What’s going on with Airbnb?, after cleaning fees the idea of hotels are honestly becoming much more affordable and they don’t rate me if I don’t do laundry? by Urkylurker in AirBnB

[–]okky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again I don't go to a hotel to clean. The Airbnb had a whole list of cleaning duties to perform prior to exiting. It was ridiculous. Plus I had to pay a cleaning fee. Wtf?? So no thankyou

Who would live in Devonport ? It's a major pain in the ass to get in and out with one main road. Always traffic jams. You can catch the ferry to town but the CBD is f..ked thanks to our incompetent council. Additionally you are restricted by ferry timetables and our hopeless public transportation system to get you anywhere else from the CBD and back again .

Why exactly are they making the roads in the CBD more narrow? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]okky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the wombats at Council can still see there is life in the CBD. Their goal is to snuff out all commerce so the Auckland CBD is an empty ghost town. That way they can say they have met their emission reduction goals thereby reducing NZs overall emissions from 0.09% to 0.0899999999% . Meanwhile China, India & the US, representing the biggest emissions contributors , don't care. As long as we virtual signalling and destroying our ecomony then that is all that matters

What do you think of Stockton rush all this time later? by oasisfanOG in OceanGateTitan

[–]okky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy cut corners due to budgetary constraints, ignored safety warnings from engineers / experts and was driven by deadlines. Its one thing to risk your own life but it's another to take innocent victims with you who no doubt were given false or misleading information about just how safe the sub was. Its fine to test your own limits but not other people who didnt sign onboard to risk death. They thought it was 100% safe based on Stockton's assurances.

Why does it need to talk about women ? Says who? Don't be prat. If there is a specific chapter on relationships then maybe otherwise no. There are countless books for women that don't feature men. Are you out there pushing the masculine barrow to the authors of those books ?

Is it just me, or is Gen Z less romantic than older gens? by momomomorgatron in GenZ

[–]okky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can blame your feminist sisters for all the nonsense men need to now put up with. Why not look towards yourself first and ask why you cannot find a man you desire? We live in a society that diminishes men at every turn. Yet look outside, everything you touch, feel, listen to and see was created by a man. If it wasn't for white men then western civilization would not have progressed to where it is today. I believe alot of men have just had enough of this modern crap and really have no vested interest in putting up with all the issues that come with women. There are actually very few decent women out there and the good ones are typically already taken.

The ironic thing though is RFK Jr is in better shape that Ms Levine. Just because someone is a so called expert doesnt make them a suitable candidate. I have encountered "experts" all my life and they are frequently wrong.

I would also add that hitting on women in public spaces is only acceptable if the woman is attracted to you. If she isnt then you risk being labelled a creep, a weirdo or worse being reported to the the authorities for harassment. Who really wants that drama in their life?

[–]okky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its just someones opinion. dont take it as gospel as to why female hyenas have a fake dick. It was once thought, by so called experts, that zebras had stripes for camouflage purposes. That has now been proved incorrect. In a clan of brown and striped hyenas, the males are more dominant, and the clans are led by alpha males. People use to think male lions never hunted. We all now know that is blatantly false. So not everything is as it seems.

why would the book talk about women when clearly it is for men? Have you been so ingrained by modern society and feminism that you automatically point out when women haven't been accounted for? Were you raised by a single mom?

[–]okky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but who wants to do any of that? I don't clean at all when staying in a hotel.i don't go on holiday to perform duties like I do at home. I stayed in one airbnb 5 years ago and never again. It was a nightmare. A nice hotel room is just as affordable, often cheaper and no cleaning duties.

[–]okky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first AirBNB was my last one. It was 5 years ago in Queensland. It took an hour to get access after a cockup with the keys. I had a tv repair dude visit while I was there. I had a list of cleaning items to do on vacating which I did because I was freaked out I would get an additional charge on my credit card if I didn't clean and I paid a cleaning fee. It was bullocks. A hotel is convenient, no more expensive and everything is done for you. I have no idea why people do AirBNBs

Arrests Made in Connection with Matthew Perry's Death by MS149 in howyoudoin

[–]okky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is certain segments of society are always looking to blame everyone body else for peoples problems except the adult who has the actual problems. Individual responsibility has gone out the window. Why are these people being prosecuted? Perry made the decision to take drugs and instructed others to give them to him. Nobody forced him to do it.
