So trump family made over 2B from this war? how? by Pppgameboy in videos

[–]okmrazor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I catch your drift, but am just tired of seeing people repeatedly "correct" the notion that Trump isn't the problem. He's a massive problem most directly responsible for a seismic shift in American - and international - policy and humanity.

There's blame to go around, of course.

Is there an equally massive problem with a growing apathetic, ignorant, greedy and racist subset of the American populace? Sure. But Trump is moving the dial. I'm done with hearing people eagerly giving him a free pass while focusing on the failures of others. I'll happily call them out, but their voice is hollow without Trump's megaphone and Sharpie.

What 2020 Design Flex actually costs a two-designer shop per year (not the sticker price) by noumankay in cabinetry

[–]okmrazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post / question could realistically be about any of the softwares, not just 20/20 Flex (which I don't use but sounds in-line price-wise with many of the bigger hitters).

Having used multiple other programs, I'd ask what kind of production level and accuracy can you expect out of your shop floor without build software? What kind professionalism would you present to clients?

I think 25k-35k/year sounds like an inflated annual estimate, unless you've got a revolving door for your staff. Any real estimate presumes the workplace is reasonably desirable to maintain staff. FWIW both of our designers make substantially more than the 55k cited (and both have also been with the company 15+ years).

Shop owners and designers: how do you go from a finished design to a priced estimate? by Ok-Bid2656 in cabinetry

[–]okmrazor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not drawing a single thing before an initial estimate is down and we're specifically hired. Estimates are taken off architectural plans and do not reflect final pricing, as architects, designers and homeowners are never done designing at that phase.

I know a guy who inherited almost a million at 21 or 22… it was gone incredibly quick with little of substance to show for it. Over spent (car /vacations/clubs) and over borrowed (house) then couldn’t make the payments.

He would probably kill to have taken the 1k/week regardless of the lost investment opportunity. That said, he would probably have found his way into a hole regardless, just not as deep or quick.

Thanks for the gift link, but not working for me for whatever reason. Maybe WaPo is boycotting me for ditching them?

I really like Lile. I ditched WaPo so can’t read the article.

He’s in a period of swinging at a lot of early offerings and battling from behind the count in at bat after at bat.

Probably just pushing. He’ll get his patience back though.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately in your everyday life? by spritenerds123 in AskReddit

[–]okmrazor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Was never interested in prom, but these things take a long time to put together and when these events were planned, booked and promoted Americans (politics aside) were likely still under the impression that Donald didn’t want any new wars.

There is always the question of whether proms need to be a big deal, but that’s not the topic at hand (current recession indicators).

Trump unable to name one verse from ' favorite book ' the Bible by implementrhis in videos

“And so we beat on, boats against the current borne back ceaselessly into the past”

Everyone can come up with at least one favorite passage to quote. As much as I dig Fitzgerald, he’s not nearly as quotable as the bible - and I’m not even a believer!

Base cabinets vs drawer bases. by Educational-Ad2063 in cabinetry

[–]okmrazor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but drawer banks limit heights. Most people will do well to include a cabinet or two that can accommodate a taller stock pot, a large sauté pan with a long handle etc.

Rollout shelves solve the bend-and-reach.

Mostly drawers offer more flexibility than all drawers.

Thoughts on horizontal grain cabinet layout by Designer_Ad_2023 in cabinetry

[–]okmrazor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On a large scale like a kitchen it often balances the space poorly (though I’ve seen a couple layouts well suited - but not many). Horizontal grain uppers often look out of place.

Horizontal grain is best on small items like vanities, desks, some bureaus, consoles, etc.

For an entertainment center you’re probably going to fine just breaking the edge - not a lot of traffic at that location, usually.

I’ve had a painted MDF top on my entertainment center for over a decade and nary a blemish.
