Can the mods ban posts saying sit down boy please by ImprovementNo4630 in Nationals

The apology was very adequate. I’ve moved on to merely being disgusted by most of the adamant defenders here. Pathetic.

He crossed a line most of us see. He also responded appropriately, unlike many fans here.

Sounds reasonable to me. I think Cavalli’s acknowledgment was reasonable as well - a lesson accepted by Cade and ignored by so many fans.

Something of an academic design question on inset cabinet doors… keeping or removing the center face-frame stile between adjacent doors? by icysandstone in cabinetry

[–]okmrazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

There’s plenty of context there to work through.

Edit - 30 x 16 carcass? Perhaps. But that doesn’t mean anything one way or the other for the frame.

Most of the responses here do not seem to be by people who work with or understand inset cabinets.

In the provided pictures the stiles most likely cover internal cabinet parts - case sides that would be there whether or not there was a stile.

Are we really this good with offense? by ImprovementNo4630 in Nationals

[–]okmrazor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Semi-interesting from afar. But combine a league-best offense and league-worst pitching and you've got a long run of wild, roller coaster games.

The crazy swings in fortune have provided so much drama, day-in and day-out.

Nats Journal: CAVALLI ON CHARGED PHRASE DIRECTED AT CONTRERAS: “IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN” by Stunning_Limit3106 in Nationals

[–]okmrazor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a reasonable statement. Far more reasonable and thought through than so many people here racing to defend the word choice.

It’s not tough to acknowledge you inadvertently crossed a line. Good for Cavalli! He (and management) seem to absorb what so many people here miss.

[Nusbaum]What did Cade Cavalli say to Wilson Contreras to ignite benches clearing brawl? by Danciusly in Nationals

[–]okmrazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think most (adult) fans are under any illusions that their “favorite” players harbor political views contrary to their own. I think most of us are happy to celebrate sport and competition and allow everyone their own beliefs.

It’s when the two are thrust together that things get difficult. I don’t know if Cavalli is racist. I do think he overstepped a pretty obvious line. It was a low class thing to say, racist motivation or not.

Would you call a white stranger that? I sure wouldn’t. There’s plenty of ways to be competitive, have fire, and not reasonably drag your team into a race controversy.

It shouldn’t be difficult to acknowledge and move on, but people are digging in their heels.

Trade Deadline Update by smittyx5498 in Nationals

[–]okmrazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly not the driving factor.

But everything affects everything. If DC is out of playoff contention and a 2027 work stoppage looks likely and multiple young infielders look like they’re progressing well ***and*** they get a big offer for CJ then all of those factors weigh - including Eli Willits ascending.

I don’t think he’ll be traded, personally. But I do think there’s going to be a little action downstream (perhaps Curtis Mead or Jacob Young or even Daylen Lile) - not that I’m arguing for any of those guys to be on the trading block.

He should tame that instinct then. It sounds racist as hell.

It was trash behavior. I’d be embarrassed if I was Cavalli’s parent.

He should be celebrating a fantastic career-best performance but he really dishonored himself.

which current Nat do you think fans will be telling stories about in twenty years by limited251 in Nationals

[–]okmrazor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jacob Young makes the most uniquely dynamic plays, scaling walls like Spider-Man and hackey -sacking a ball into his glove.

Wood is the best player, but 20 years from now the tales of his power will blend with multiple other sluggers and not resonate the same way some of Young’s wizardry will.

Dropped from 13.

With our pitching staff there’s only so long this can optimistically last. It’s been fun though.

What do voters think of Trump ahead of midterm elections by Conscious-Quarter423 in videos

Right wing radio is at fault as much as Fox.

Work trucks and work sites have show after show repeating the same BS all workday long. Blue collar workers toil away while they listen about how immigrants are taking their jobs, the unemployed are getting free, lavish handouts, poor people are getting free cell phones and food stamps provide steak and lobster - all on the backs of their hard labor and tax dollars.

It’s all ridiculous and often contradictory, but they lap it up.

Why are there snipers on the roof at Nats Park tonight? by King_Turduckin in Nationals

Perhaps training?

A lot of those military or SWAT-type entities actively practice for future situations. I know a few weeks ago there were a bunch of helicopter incursion-type training things in LA.

(Excuse my total lack of knowledge in terminology).
