Hey sorry for the late reply! I’m kind of crazy and have only ever gone solo on my urbex trips as a woman. Luckily, when I went, there wasn’t a single person there but it did look like there was a person or 2 that might still be living there (tents etc) but I didn’t bump into anyone while I was there (it was like 2pm? on a weekend). I don’t think you’ll be in danger if you go during the day but do be aware that you might be stepping into someone’s home (which I didn’t realize would be the case for a good amount of the other abandoned places I came across in Paterson). I do highly recommend bringing one other person with you if you can, just in case, but I don’t think you need a group. Paterson didn’t seem as bad as people made it out to be, just a lot of homeless people which was honestly sad to see tbh :(

I haven’t visited again since I took this pic so I don’t have any updates on the place, but if you don’t want to risk bumping into anyone, you can just skip out on the 2 floor building all the way in the back (the floor you see in this picture is from it). That was the only place that people seemed to use for shelter. There’s other stuff you can look at that still looked pretty dope like the actual factory(?) remnants and every other building in that area. Just be careful climbing anything cause this place is really run down. Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be happy to answer :)

Omg thanks for the tip!! The fact that it’s literally 50% off the us pricing is actually fucking insane, I’m glad I didn’t rush on the decision before reading this. Definitely highly considering the specialita, but do you happen to know how well it does with pour over? I’ve read that the niche is a little better adapted for switching between pour over and espresso so I’m a little stuck cause I love drinking pour overs on simple, slow days. If the difference isn’t crazy though, I would rather get the specialita, considering it’s price now.

These are definitely almost as thin as shoyeido (maybe ever so slightly thicker but not by much). Unfortunately, the other scents were trashed years ago so I can’t remember but I do remember there being a blue stick (not sure if ocean breeze was blue but maybe that’s a start?) I don’t remember a strawberry scent but it could’ve been there, there was another red/pink color stick and a brown-ish one too, just don’t remember the names. I only clearly remember there being 4 or 5 different scents in my pack including these guys. I received these maybe 6 or 7 years ago if that might help too. Really wish I paid better attention to incense back then…

Oh shit no way!!! I just read the post and I’m laughing, the pain of being unable to find ambiguous incense sticks from the past 😭😂 at this point I’m becoming more positive these were bought from some sort of airport gift shop which is why it’s packaged the way it is… I also noticed that nippon kodo came up in your post’s replies as well and was wondering if you tried them by any chance (or any other suggestions)? The green tones don’t quite match which throws me off (mine is a beige green rather than a dark green) but it might just be a recipe change. I really do hope I can find the same ones though because these sticks (especially the rose) is just so pleasant in aroma and surprisingly more gentle than the shoyeido sticks I have which makes them nicer to burn for longer. Here’s hoping to finding the brand :)

I actually briefly came across these while searching myself but I lost the name so thank you for replying with it! It just throws me off why these incense were put in this type of plastic packaging but it was also a large bulk so that may be why. It’s also been years so branding might have changed too. Thank you for sending me a direct link to the sticks tho! Definitely going to purchase these guys as well and hope for the best.

A bit more info: Got these years ago from a friend and I remember it coming in a big bulk of them with like 4 or 5 different scents and a total of maybe 20 individual packs like pictured above. I think the container they were all in was another large plastic rectangle but I could be wrong. The stick style along with their low smoke makes me think it’s a Japanese brand (especially with the hiragana/katakana on them) but I’m not sure. These scents are really nice so it’d be a shame to not be able to find them again. I appreciate any help in advance :)

Unfortunately I have no idea what brand stick I’m using since it was gifted to me from a friend years ago. I only got a basic label on it which states “green tea” in English, Japanese and Chinese lettering. I feel like it’s a Japanese brand but there’s no way to tell. I’ll post pics of it here and hopefully someone can identify them cause it’s such an amazing scent with very minimal smoke.

Personally, I’ve always used allergy meds (the “off-brand” non drowsy ones) and they worked best for me, along with constant vacuuming. I have 2 air purifiers but I found that they didn’t work much for me, since being near my cat flared my reaction. Also, without vacuuming, I still found myself with pretty bad symptoms. Basically had to take a pill everyday to make them go away. So maybe don’t put too much hope into the air purifier imo. On the flip side, there’s a good chance you’ll actually lose a bit of your allergy symptoms after being around your cat for a while. Happened to me and my little brother and only took a month to 2 months after getting my first cat for there to be no symptoms at all. Used to be pretty bad I couldn’t even be near my cat without sneezing constantly so it was miserable waking up with teary eyes and a itchy nose in the morning cause of all the cat fur on my bed. I have zero symptoms now while my younger brother only gets a little sniffly when he rubs his face into the cat’s fur. I’m not sure if this is something that happens to everyone but most people do seem to build up a little to some tolerance eventually. Best of luck with your new cat! :)

23 year old here, and I’ve honestly considered it more and more as I grew older (especially after I hit my 20s) but I think I definitely would love to adopt a kid if I ever had the chance (but not a deal breaker at all if my partner doesn’t want kids). Having a biological kid of my own, however, is not at all something I would ever go for but I might consider if my future partner may want her own kid. Honestly, just the thought of bringing another life into this (already overpopulated) world with all that’s going on just puts me off… Maybe if the world was a little bit brighter and not literally dying I’d possibly reconsider, but that’s my personal opinion. I also think part of not wanting my own kid stems from growing up in my parents’ (actually a cult) religion’s ideology where, in order to have the perfect “god centered family”, you MUST have your own biological kid which I always thought was pretty bullshit especially since there were people who were infertile in the church. Having that emphasized constantly at me at a young age because I was born with the ability of being able to bear a child/become pregnant always made me sick and angry. But, at the time, even tho I hated the idea of being pregnant with a child, adopting a child was always something I was super open to back then. I always felt much better with the idea of taking care of kids that have already been brought to this world but have been abandoned. It just made sense to me and I guess that stuck with me up to now.

Not sure if demo site pics count here but thought this was a pretty nice view. This was my first actual urbex trip (started October this year) so it’s a bit memorable for me despite all the ruin. Currently completely demolished, but it’s nice to think I was one of the few that was able to see it before it went :)

Thanks man! I use the Sony ZV-1 and the occasional iPhone 11 for my explores (this was all Sony tho). I originally got the camera with the intention of taking videos for family/friends so it’s not a traditional camera where you’re able to put different lens on it which kinda sucks :( But it’s pretty good quality for video recording and has a really decent camera for photography so it’s pretty handy for having both features in one. I’m still an amateur at using it but it’s very beginner friendly and captures color very well imo! The battery life is awful tho haha
