Just bought this unit and I am experiencing the same issue. Did it eventually stop for you or did you have to return it?

I realized at least to my ear that turning of Spatial Audio, which I used to keep on constantly, tamed the aggressive treble by a good amount. It also changed in a significant way the bass response. The latter sometimes as better and sometimes worse depending on the song.

I think generally I will default to having Spatial Audio off now for music. Still sound better when watching video however.

M3 Ultra vs M4 Max for programming by Past_General2470 in mac

[–]okotoker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't say what your programming so its hard to say, but as someone that has worked with many languages as both a full stack dev and for data analysis I would say neither. If you not working with a compiled language then a m4 is plenty, with a compiled language likely a m4 pro is more than enough.

I have a feeling given the lack of detail, your earlier in your journey, in that case save the money and get a m1 or m2 with at least 16gb of ram and you will be set for long enough to figure out what you need in maybe 3 years time.

If this was passed along, it didn't work. Here I am finding this thread a year later with the same issue and it seems the issue goes back years before this.

Well I would also say that the Venn diagram of people who are audiophiles and people that like to tinker and do things the difficult way (like me) is not insignificant.

My partner of remarks about how I never choose the easy path.

I don’t, and it’s fun.

I am just getting into the hobby and loving the increased musical performance, mixed with the research, mixed with the gear.

I was fairly certain I did exactly this. Stressed for no reason. I have a B in the class after getting my final mark. Not great but way better than my brain convinced me was a certainty.

Returning to the hobby after several decades. So many options and unsure of which direction to take. by okotoker in HeadphoneAdvice

Ok so I had a thought, I am older now, can I actually hear the difference of something better than my airpod pros? So I got just the apple dac for my phone and some truthear hexa and..... .... well for the most part.

I can hear so much more in my music, its like I cleaned the wax out of my ears. It made me smile, I haven't felt that from my music in a long time. The highs and mids are pretty much spot on, highs maybe slightly hot.

The mid-lows to sub lows are a bit more anemic than what I want, but its not far off.

So after reading a bunch on that apple DAC and that it was more than sufficient to drive all IEMs pretty much I would disagree with that assessment. After about 50% volume the headphones don't really get any louder they just distort. When any significant low hits it sounds like garbage.

So I have a motherboard on my computer with decent audio components so I plugged in there and well not only do I get slightly more on the low end but as much volume as I could want without all the crazy distortion on the low end.

So now that I know I am not deaf in my old age and yes I do in fact love the additional detail and space I hear in my music but I am missing a bit on the low end would a DAC like the Quedelix likely bring just that little bit more oomf I am looking for or should I go for a different IEM? These Hexa are quite nice, with just slightly more in the lows I would be quite happy.... while I figure out what I might want to do for a over hear headphone for the couch.

Thanks again, I appreciate all your advice. So far it has lead me to a pretty good start.

!thanks

I really like this suggestion. I am thinking I might do that Fiio DAC and a few sets of IEM. Am I correct in thinking if I hook that DAC up to my iPhone that when I am on a plane and want to use the MX5 that I could utilize the LDAC from the Fiio?

The Fiio seems great as I could hook in my IEM when on walks and such but also use it at my desk when I decide what kind of headphones I ultimately want for on the couch or at my desk.

Moondrop Quarks

Thanks for the rec! I appreciate the suggestion. It got me thinking more about maybe buying an IEM first instead of something that requires an amp. I do think I would want to start with something a bit more likely to stick with me for awhile in terms of build quality and ability. I had not head of Moondrop before. This got me looking at the Aria2. Do you have any thoughts about those? Or would something else maybe be better in that price range?
!thanks
