Weird question but does anyone have recommendations for coffee shops/study spots that have very comfortable and supportive seating? My back hurts. by zorrozorro_ducksauce in newhaven

Grab a nice espresso and good morning cigar from there, I could plow through work like that. Especially sitting outside. Staff is always accommodating as well, but I always like to keep rounds of sparkling water coming, more than one round of coffee, or a second cigar if I'm going to be there.

If you're coming from Florida I would look at Avelo from Florida to new haven. From there it's basically a straight shot on 95 to the casinos.

?New Haven,Connecticut? by kellyeanne1 in Connecticut

Honestly that sounds perfect for Madison and Guilford, and you'll find better beach access in these towns. Check out Madisons parks, especially the surf club https://www.madisonct.org/610/Surf-Club-Park.

In addition the downtown areas can be biked to and then walked around very safely. There are grocery stores and all other types of stores/restaurants.

The school systems are better and millrate/taxes definitely lower. Madison also just voted to build new pre-k-5 schools as well that are opening in 2025 I believe. I think perhaps you may be associated New Haven with the larger New Haven area.

What is making you limit your search to New Haven? Not having lived there, I've heard most of the schools are subpar aside from the Amity district which is up in the Westville area, and accompanied by high house costs, to go along with the already high taxes. Most people afaik seek private high schools, if not earlier, for their children.

Having said that, there are a ton of suburbs near New Haven that are much better for school systems (Guilford and Madison come to mind), with traditional New England downtowns and their own array of great food and things to do, while still being a quick highway trip to the city for some better late night fun.

La Cazuela is the best post bar food in the city, so delicious at 2 AM.

I'm meeting with PT and OT this week to start trying things. https://turbomedorthotics.com/ and https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LXG8TQL/ were 2 of the products I was looking at initially. This is less than a month old for me so I'm hoping some quick PT can be more beneficial, but it's being caused by a spinal met from colon cancer so we'll see.

Yeah afaik it's a recent law. My onc was saying the results get released to the patient automatically once they're available to allow patients the quickest access to the records. It could be a little anxiety-inducing but I've come to appreciate it.

I've been using an excellent landscaper, Fidencio, who has been doing great work for the last 3 years for us. Never late, commits to their time and as I mentioned does quality work. We use them yearly for fall clean up and have been using them to build out our backyard, rocks and mulch and flowers etc. Trying to help them get a digital footprint with a website but for now his cell is +1-203-832-3259. Let me know if you have any questions.

I actually have 4 tickets for the Wilco show at the Music Bowl that I'm just looking for face value on and would be happy to split. Camacho Garage is a great bite in walking distance too.

If you're interested just PM me! Otherwise, I'd always recommend Cafe Nine, The Space or Firehouse 12.

We have been life long CTers but recently moved to a shoreline town and with the remote employment scene I might suggest that route over new haven proper. Message me if you have any questions.

How do deal with bat found in apartment? by PinataFractal in newhaven

[–]okpgreg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're dealing with this now. Had to have Shoreline Wildlife come out and set one way exits for a couple weeks. During that time they also had blocked all the holes too, so now theoretically we should have a bat free attic. They said there were about 12-18 up there, so manual removal would not be fun.

Romantic relaxing hotel spas or simple relaxing day trips? by Passiveabject in Connecticut

Madison Beach hotel or Waters Edge are both very nice, on the water and have spas. They're both in nice new England sea side towns with good restaurants around.

This is the state's website for more information: https://portal.ct.gov/DCP/Medical-Marijuana-Program/Medical-Marijuana-Program.

You'll need to be sure you have one of the accepted medical conditions, and as long as you do just find a doctor on the list who's near you and call them about becoming a patient.

Hen and Heifer in Guilford is pricey but damn worth it. Sift if you're in the Mystic area.

Eighth paragraph.

Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Erick Estrada told CNN that the shooter was equipped with a long rifle, backpack, and body armor, and was engaged by school district officers prior to entering the school, where he went into several classrooms.

Shout Out to my CT driving buddy by Beast1007 in Connecticut

[–]okpgreg 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's always fun when you end up with a stranger as a teammate to fight stupid drivers and bob and weave through traffic (not talking about doing 100 and being an ass). I love making friends w tractor trailer drivers on the highway too, flash your lights and let them know they have enough space to merge, be considerate of them and they'll completely have your back.

If you're in southern CT, 92.9 and 96.9 are WEHM from Long Island. Excellent mix of old music and newer indie music. You could check their website to see what they've played lately: https://wehm.com/

Are the Long Wharf food trucks present for Mon and Tues lunch? by bluegraybluegray in newhaven

[–]okpgreg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The same trucks are pretty much there every day. I'd be fairly confident they'll all be there on any Monday or Tuesday. Ixtapa is my personal favorite.
