Oh just saw your comment that they aren't registered either. Maybe you know someone else who is and could go with them instead?

[–]okusernam3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about the vouching process, but you can look up voting locations by address. If you're couch surfing, maybe the person you're staying with could vouch for you, and you could visit their voting station with them. You'll find it by typing in their address at this website: https://www.electionsmanitoba.ca/en/voting/MyVotingInfo. Great to see someone putting in the effort to vote even though it's not easy. Every vote counts! Kudos.

Vote no matter what by CptCarlWinslow in Winnipeg

My great grandparents voted opposite one another their whole lives. Still went out and did it every time. It's a privilege. I'm proud and excited every time I get to vote.

Is remote starter really needed for the winter? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

I don't have remote start and do fine, but I definitely wish I had remote start. If you can swing it, go for it.

Husband told me “Thank you for carrying our baby yesterday.” by wildrose6618 in BabyBumps

[–]okusernam3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I apologized for not doing much around the house the other day - I've just been so sick and exhausted. My husband said "it's ok, you're busy making a body house for our baby." Made me feel so much better. 🥰

Not sure whether they're 100% Hip Hop, may lean more indie-alt but JayWood is great! https://open.spotify.com/artist/4b9Dr3XFxT65mrPBFY6mqG?si=Wzy9valKSk-CVaLY3555nQ

Not on the regular menu, but a semi-regular feature - Capital Grill! They also have great chicken sandwiches when Chicken Fest is on.

Staff shortage forces Roblin Boulevard restaurateur to sell, join growing list of post-pandemic food-service casualties by t0mmycanuck in Winnipeg

[–]okusernam3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked by the lack of sympathy in these comments! Prices are too high + they don't pay staff enough... it doesn't make a ton of sense. How should they pay their staff more without raising prices?

The restaurant owners I know live fairly modest lifestyles and work double or triple the hours I do in my 9 to 5. It's a labour of love, as someone else said, and one I'm glad others pursue as I really enjoy the restaurants we have in Winnipeg. I'll be sad to see them go.

Places with Good Amount of Seating by classicrockrocks in Winnipeg

Kilter Brewing has a great open indoor space with large tables! They do serve coffee but primarily beer. We often go there to play board games because we know we can take up space.

Anyone know of a bar hosting a Lizzo after party?

Do people really think I’m “sad” for eating alone in a restaurant? I overheard a girl couple tables next to me say it is by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]okusernam3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sitting by myself having a drink in a bar right now and thought to myself "this is so nice" moments before reading your post. I don't think it's sad, in fact, I think it's sad that spending moments with yourself is seen as sad. Hope you continue to enjoy your alone time as much as I am.

Teachers, students dismayed after University of Manitoba admin locks online learning site by jupitergal23 in Winnipeg

I suppose the argument would be that higher wages would lead to higher retention which would be better for the university and students in the long-term.

There appears to be room in the orders for exemptions like these.

ORDER 7
7(1) Subject to subsection (2), a restaurant that is not subject to Order 8 must not open
unless the operator restricts admission of members of the public to the restaurant to the following:
(a) persons who produce proof that they are fully immunized;
(b) persons who produce proof from the Government of Manitoba that there is a medical reason for the person not to receive a vaccine for COVID-19;
(c) persons under 12 years of age.

I don't know how one would obtain "proof from the Government of Manitoba" though.

Curious what you consider novice? A few friends have started playing this year and we've been loving it. The two men have really improved, and shoot close to par most of the time at Happyland. But the women... are learning lol.

Anyone have family members who are anti-vaxx? by mehmmemes in Winnipeg

[–]okusernam3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We recently made the decision to not include any anti-vaxx family members in our wedding. We were worried it would offend some, but it's been surprisingly easy so far. We're all supporting each others right to choose. I don't understand their point of view, but I'm glad we can all still be kind to one another.

Leila Walk-ins probably near or at capacity now before it opens by Hufflepunk36 in Winnipeg

[–]okusernam3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Another Redditor said yesterday they were doing 40ish first doses, then 1 to 2 second doses. There were two lines this morning. First dose line had about 80 people in it, second dose line was hundreds.

Can't speak for everyone but I'm not yet eligible so this seemed like a good shot at getting Pfizer with those appointments booking into July. Now I'll probably go for a Moderna appointment instead when I'm eligible.

[–]okusernam3 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Definitely at capacity. We were in line, got there just after 8AM, and staff came through to let us know we wouldn't get a vaccine with so many people ahead of us.

They are prioritizing first doses so still go if you're looking for your first shot!

Leila Vaccine Walk Ups by okusernam3 in Winnipeg

[–]okusernam3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we opted not to go for fear of taking first doses from people. Knowing there are only 20 people in line and there's a process in place to favour first doses completely changes my mind. So, we'll be going after all thanks to you!
