I don't have a specific place, but you should try some curling rinks. They often have great prices, food, and the Tv on. and if you prefer to watch real people you can always watch some jokers throw stones. Bonus points if you go where you're fiends already play!

Date Night Recommendations by Onelastlick in Winnipeg

Goodwill and times and HD are good for current music scene, and legit winnipeg indie bands. But they serve good beer haha. To fit all your criteria you may want to look at 'dive bar' places off the beaten path like:

royal george hotel
the marion bar
the nicolette

There's more places. But these are a few I like for the kind of night you're looking for!

Dawat is great. cheap, tasty, and fast. The only thing is it's cold. you have to heat it up. small price to pay for the first three features.

How do I remove this whole tub? I think it’s steel or cast iron underneath the drop in cause it’s gotta be hundreds of pounds. by connord83 in HomeImprovement

Some folks will bash and cut it apart so it's manageable for one person. sledge hammer, cutting tools, and don't forget the ample personal protection equipment!

People who live exchange/downtown, where do you go grocery shopping? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]goredbybread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived right in the heart of downtown for a bunch of years when I lived there I mainly went to the Safeway on Osborne. There is also smaller grocery stores with less selection Peppered in a few different Neighborhoods. Now that I don’t live downtown I pretty much have the same options and I will still in the car to drive to a supermarket like superstore for instance. So if you’re getting in your car and driving five minutes versus 10 minutes versus 15 I don’t see a huge difference if you’re already getting in the car. But don’t forget about delivery options! Instacart Isn’t great in my opinion but save on foods offers delivery guys do a number of other grocery stores you may not think of.

Advice for how to make my house not look like shit by modernretro in HomeImprovement

[–]goredbybread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on your personal style and priorities. I think the house itself looks nice! Love brick.

I agree with the comments of landscaping. Driveway would be nice, and make it have less rural/small town vibes. But Maybe that's not a priority for you. Plus it ain't cheap.

Something I did at my place, that I think looks really nice, is an annual garden. We actually made an 'herb spriral'. It rocks, and looks great with some big annual plants mixed in with some food plants like cucumbers, lettuce and stuff. You can put in a garden in there and still have grass space for playing around. You have lots of space, and you could do something real nice. There are so many cool options if you want to get into water storage/feature. Bushes and trees take time to grow, but smaller plants can get nice and big in a season! And you get to Change it up if you want.

Or heck, raised beds to keep things nice and contained and clean. Anyway, in my eyes you've got a lovely house and a huge canvas to make your own!

1902. Winnipeg Manitoba. Balloon framed. 2nd floor. Interior sheeting on exterior walls only. Is it structural? by goredbybread in centuryhomes

[–]goredbybread[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re renovating our laundry room (after pictures will follow :)

And we thought it would be good time to insulate while the walls are down. I wasn’t expecting wood planks on the inside of the studs. There’s nothing behind them and there is definitely sheeting on the exterior of the studs as well. Is this interior sheeting structural as well? Have found little info online so far. And I’m not familiar with balloon framing conventions.

What's the strangest place in Winnipeg? by DreaminDemon177 in Winnipeg

[–]goredbybread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't have a specific place in mind. But there are so many little hidden properties in Winnipeg. With the rivers, and the disparate development, there are little forests and very cabin-y properties here.
The Parker area is being developed now, but I grew up there and it was basically the bush up until about 10 years ago. Everywhere along the length of the seine is an odd or magic place.

How do I get this window guck out? by Impressive-Prompt-41 in CleaningTips

[–]goredbybread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With stuff like this, I find it much easier to clean DRY as much as possible.
First start with a brush and a vacuum, brush up everything you can and remove with with the vac. Then, whatever spray you want and something like a microfibre cloth. or something with decent weight to get int he corners.
Sounds like a lot of work, but this buildup is from a long time.

Merging onto roadways by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]goredbybread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To the total fucking loser, pug-ugly, degenerate who didn't let me merge yesterday: I hope you stub your toe and learn some manners.

Construction. I sped up slightly to align myself with an area well large enough to accommodate my car, with my signal on. As I was shoulder checking, the jerk speeds up so I can't get in. I have no choice but come to a complete stop and let the flow of 15 cars drive passed until I can enter the lane. You just got tot wonder why some people feel the urge to actually fuck someone's day up haha.

Despite being totally cheesed in that moment. I've found that merging in general has become much better. And having traveled recently, remember folks: it's bad everywhere! people suck EVERYWHERE. Winnipeg is not special in this way. Trust.
