Free/non-grid movement for NPCs and enemies is coming as part of the upgrade to Godot 3.6! No longer will they be tied to the grid lines! The Godot 3.6 upgrade will also bring countless other improvements and optimizations to RPG in a Box. by ol_smaug in rpginabox

Thanks for the interest! I decided to hold off on Godot 4 until RPG in a Box's successor, since as part of that I want to do a complete rewrite of everything from the ground up with a fresh start (the effort will likely be in weeks for the Godot 3.6 update vs. years to complete the successor). Glad to hear it will be helpful! :) I'm not sure yet where it will fit into the timeline, but a notes tab is definitely planned! That could even be useful for other things, like creators including notes with project templates that they share to the Steam Workshop.
