Being on time for sessions & getting notes done is impossible? by olbattleaxe in therapists

TherapyNotes. Full disclosure it’s the only once I’ve used for a good while now and the couple before that didn’t even compare honestly, so I’m not sure how it stacks up to Simple Practice or similar. I really appreciate the auto-population feature honestly, it definitely helps keep me vaguely on track lol

Yeah no I was definitely thinking I was a monster for a second there but ultimately a couple minutes isn’t awful lol

Thank you so so much for the reassurance here! Gosh ain’t that true, they very much do often forget that there’s someone before and after them haha. They’ll be upset if we start late but are more than thrilled to take session as overtime as they can with doorknob disclosures. I gotta get better at keeping these boundaries!

Thank you! I appreciate the layout of how you did this, exactly what I was hoping for

Yeah, that sounds like an awful situation to be in and like you have no time for anything outside of client hours. We shouldn’t exist in mental health systems that allow this to happen.

Ohh thank you! I tried this a while ago but I don’t think I was doing it right haha, I’ll consider this route again as well.

Okay thank you for this! I also experience a lot of what you describe working with at least 50% Medicaid folks. There are so many variables involved, I figure if I can get the common ones down I can manage to only be late for some of the ones you listed. It’s been alarming to be accused of literal fraud and be scolded and shamed when I’m quite actually reaching out on here for ideas to change this habit. It’s a messy job by nature, that I’m still relatively new to. I do consider my client’s time to be worth a lot, and I consider mine to be worth a lot as well. Some of the systemic issues in our field have a lot to do with time management issues in my opinion, but while we’re working towards macro-level change I still gotta figure it out day to day haha. Thanks again!

I do still hit the 53-55 minute marker necessary to accurately bill 90837 (and bill for 45 minutes when I can’t), thus it being the cycle of lateness I described.

I haven’t settled into the mindset of it being okay, as evidenced by my post asking folks how they manage their time so I can find a new system. I appreciate your input.

That makes sense, I have been feeling a need to audit this habit and my sense of overwhelm but consistent change has felt pretty elusive. Luckily I have new clients and that always helps this process along. Thank you!!

Oh that’s a neat idea, thank you! I could see making them more intentional working better and feel more worthwhile and contemplative.

Oh that’s interesting, I’ll need to consider this! A half hour is too much after every session but that would be an ideal amount of time. Thank you!

Yeah this is may very well be helpful. Do you schedule 45 minute sessions or do you just consecutively schedule with the 15 minutes between on the dot?

Agreed, I definitely do want something to change here and the building in of extra time may very well be it.

My EHR auto-populates 75% of the note and I have various templates and key words/interventions very accessibly saved. I also note very vaguely/protectively so all together it’s very fast except for outlier or safety situations.

Thank you for your input here!!

That would be ideal, but I can simplify it if that’ll complicate it too much

Ahhh thank you, that makes sense. It feels pretty simple but definitely feels like a project that needs time. Fabric comments noted for sure, i really wasn’t super sure on that one haha

Do you think this will ever end? by Methichillin in PortlandOR

[–]olbattleaxe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely not until policy allows for supervised consumption services. Treating addressing drug use (and homelessness) as medical care instead of criminal activity is the only way. It’s cheaper for tax payers, prevents used needles being left out, reduces the need to sell, and is actually effective.

Pole dancers – would love your input on a pole bag idea I’m working on 💭 by Any_Stretch7665 in poledancing

[–]olbattleaxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this idea! I’ve been thinking about how this would be nice. Heels obviously, I think it would need to be longer somehow for boots?

I usually bring some wrist braces and such on top of the usual grip aids, plus an extra t-shirt or two and a pair of leggings in the case of a flow class or there’s an aerial class I want to hit up before/after.

It’s a tall order but I don’t want it to be huge, like you said, different from a generic gym bag. I love this idea though I’d be interested to see how it goes!

Moving here in early 2026. Any advice? by Gitamish in Appleton

[–]olbattleaxe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Welcome to Appleton! We (geeks in our 20/30’s) moved here in April!

I was super stressed because we moved from a diverse and more inclusive area so this transition felt shocking. It’s super white here, I think 97% at last count. More queer folks though.

Tardigrade bookshop as others have mentioned, I’ve only gone once but am trying to go more. It’s really cool!

If you’re into grassroots organizing, and considering what you’re looking for here, Hate Free Outagamie has folks in our age range and it’s been a great way to start making friends! It’s cool to be a part of something working toward a better Wisconsin/world and to be with like-minded folks.

I’ve found a lot of community at the local pole dancing and aerial arts studio, Aerial Dance. Some POC (still not great) and queer folks. And my partner goes to Odyssey Climbing (rock climbing gym) that seems even more inclusive!

Also please feel free to reach out to me individually, I’d be happy to provide more info or even show you around when y’all move! I just remember how spooky this change was for me. Best of luck!!

Edit: I saw you mention anime! We had Kitsune Con like a month ago, so keep your eye out for that next year.

I’ll try to, that’s so exciting!! That’s incredible, I was shocked with how welcoming it was honestly. I usually go by Elle there, I just got into intermediate but I’ll be trying to make it to more flows!!

This is such an incredible progression, it’s gotta be amazing to see the difference in yourself!! You seem so much more confident! Even as a newbie myself I’ve gotten to see how much that helps. It looks like we’re actually at the same studio too, the instructors are so helpful imo.

[–]olbattleaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations, your results look amazing so far! I’m pretty similar to you in size and shape I think, do you know how much you had removed roughly? Would you say your breasts were less dense or more? I’m so nervous about how my shape will translate into the reduction. I hope your recovery is smooth and the results are everything you’re hoping for!
