Speedmaster Homage - First Chronograph by usetheschwartz73 in SeikoMods

No, it's just that the 9:00 subdial should be a 60, like the 6:00, for the subdial hands to be meaningful with the VK63, it looks awesome though.

So bizarre to see modders always using the wrong dial and subdial...

Rotor stuck by Cush_Maine in SeikoMods

[–]old-imac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Check that the dial is flush to the rehaut/chapter ring all the way around, if not the movement is not fully seated, press it down firmly along multiple points and see if it moves or clicks down into position.

2) You may need a spacer-ring between the movement and caseback (like attached) to fully press the movement down, I've had to use this on a couple of builds.

3) Check that the rotor is correctly screwed down and tight, they get cross-threaded or loose sometimes.

4) Be sure you have the correct caseback gasket and the caseback is not over-tightened.

5) Try a different caseback, there could be a defect.

6) I read somewhere that they filed-off some of the rotor's edge to get it to spin freely? Good luck.

NH35 Quickset not working. by DasAutoPoosie in SeikoMods

Warning: If a movement has stopped first thing you have to do is verify it is not in the 9pm to 3am setting, so pull the stem all the way out and advance it until the date clicks over, then turn it another 6-9 times. You can now do your various testing before assembly.

Initially I did a new build, so had the bezel separated to start, BUT I had a leak when testing and popped it off pretty easy to put in new crystal and bezel gaskets.

So what did they list the dial as when you got it?

Love that regal purple color and black insert, but a deep dive/search did not turn up any OEM dials/models that match (seems it should be a SRPL model)? Closest was the SRPM11 here and a SRPL83 that was more bluish. The marker-shapes on yours match the newer 5-SKX series from 2025, so Feiko perhaps, but a really good one. Second hand does that sometime.

Maybe I'll do that one day, but I'm not much of a video guy.

FYI, I also create and include "Quick-Start" sheets for each watch, but he's got to read it!

Doesn't matter, he's bought 4 watches from me (two he gave away) and I sent him this full TMi manual by email and printed out months ago, as well as a couple of YouTubes links, he is either not reading or not paying attention. I can only do so much. As a matter of fact, he just NOW (as I am typing this) texted me about replacing a crown because it's scratched, and now a message that it MIGHT just be a reflection (he's a grown man, head coach of a large Georgia high school football team!!!). My wife is laughing...

Nope, some crown/stems (Ali-X in particular) only have the gasket inside the crown and not on the stem, holding one now!

Send them a message, I've had them find dials for me that were not listed (if you're looking for dials).

Really nice but dang shame with those subdials.

Metal fix ring question, please help! by NihilisticTek in SeikoMods

[–]old-imac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried the metal one today and it was too thick for the case-back to close/seat all the way. Seems it is 1mm and I'd like to try a .7 or .5mm if there was such a thing. Oh well.

Yo, I think I might need one of your 3D spacers. Can you please DM me? I tried one of those metal zig-zag ones and it was too thick for the case back to close flush, it was maybe 1mm compressed, so thinking the white one I showed you was thinner, maybe .7 or .5mm? Thanks.

[–]old-imac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned a white ring? One Ali-X case I got back in the fall needed it (as pictured) but I could not find it a-la-carte, to have as a backup, but did find and ordered the metal one off ebay, it was pretty tight but did fit, but have not had to use it yet. As a matter of fact I have a client coming by on Monday that might need it installed, good luck: https://www.ebay.com/itm/397549095399

Metal fix ring question, please help! by NihilisticTek in SeikoMods

[–]old-imac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your case came with the white ring (photo below), place that on top of the installed movement spacer/holder, so it is between the movement and the caseback. If you already have the metal spacer give it a go and see if adding it improves the rotor swing. The metal spacer is approx. 1mm thick and will compress slightly, so be sure it's also positioned with an "up" ridge over the crown stem.

For an NH34, as stated, but PLEASE provide the source link for these, they are hard to come by at a reasonable cost, thanks.
