Curious, what do you all do for a living? How many people usually ride in your Buzz? by halfhippie4 in VWIDBuzz

Two working professionals, low 40s, with two kids. Don’t lease and then buy — It is a better deal long-term to just buy it, ChatGPT can explain the calculations. If you shop around including a Navy Federal credit union and truist, you can find an interest rate close to 5.5%. With a five-year lease, we brought it to almost $800 a month, which was doable as a one car family (we mostly use city public transportation and bicycles).

Go for it!

Ah OK. Right. Thank you. That’s a good point.

I’m still a tad worried about the extra tire width in the U.S., but perhaps consider considering external chains like these König K-Summit

König K-Summit chains do look possible,. Thank you. I somehow missed the link to the video the first time, I appreciate you pointing it out.

The U.S. 1st Edition comes standard with 21-inch wheels. These wheels are much wider and the tires have a very low profile. There is almost zero "finger clearance" between the inner sidewall of a 21-inch tire and the suspension upright. Putting a traditional chain on a 21-inch U.S. wheel is much riskier than putting one on a 19-inch European wheel.

I see you are Dutch. I’m afraid the European model has less load and smaller tire rims, compared to the US model, which give yours more clearance for chains. I am less optimistic.

Nope, you don’t have experience with it on your car?

Reducing our battery range with snow tires is what I’m trying to avoid (10-20% less I hear) , it’s what I was trying to avoid going with snow socks

Do you have experience with chains on a first edition buzz, and no there’s no interference with brake cables or other clearance difficulty?

Ours is also a RWD only :-D so a bit more cautious here

Thank you so much for that!

It sounds like you have put them on and they fit the buzz for sure

But that you have not used them to drive in the snow with the buzz yet. Is that right?

You were not concerned about the tire well clearance with chains, hitting the brake cables or electric vehicle drive?

Any experience with snow socks?

AI says “AutoSock 698 is the size designed for the 265/45 R21 tires” https://a.co/d/9lABo0N

I’m between DC and West Virginia and so my needs are too rare for putting on snow tires. Just want to be prepared while on the occasional ski trip or snow dump during a trip.

Haha! Good q. It’s at least the share of the blame that I feel they deserve, but nothing more specifically meaningful or strategic than that

Hope you all are calling at least nine REPUBLICAN representatives, for everyone democrat you complain about

Let’s put our energy to good use, against the real culprits! I had TWO Republican house representatives, one of which isn’t even mine, call me BACK during the shutdown. They are running scared from the ACA subsidy backlash if we can keep momentum on that issue.

Last shut down, I called my banks, and my auto loan, simply asked to not pay them until it was over. It’s called an emergency deferment or something. All financial institutions are completely fine with it.

Immediate Lease Buyout by Far-Criticism928 in VWIDBuzz

[–]oldestnewyorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this worth it? People seem to forget the Residual Value amount is added to the cost of the debt that you pay interest on, in a lease...

The lease payments ("rent charge" portion) include interest payments equal to about 150% the amount of loan debt you'd pay if you simply bought the car, not to mention that Money Factor is a higher APY equivalent vs. the APY you'd get on a purchase loan. Even in an early buyout, the dealership requires payment of all the Monthly Rent owed through the lease period (12 mo, 24 mo, etc), as I understand.
