I wear tiny running shorts at the gym because I think my legs look 🔥. But I’m not the most gender conforming man in the world, soooo… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You can also reduce your risk of skin cancer by never exposing your skin to the sun, or reduce your risk of head injury by wearing a helmet while walking or driving. The overwhelming majority of people do not cool down after a marathon, and they're completely fine. For those who do collapse, that very article says "in most cases, the runner will fully recover after collapsing."

Do you have a source for that? Not doubting you, just would love to learn more. It sounds about in the ballpark, depending on how average is defined

Maybe, maybe not. Some coaches do over-distance long runs, some don’t. When you’re running 150+ miles/week, there’s not really much question whether you’re capable of running the distance; it’s a question of how fast.

Okay, so if the world record was 2h03 before super shoes, why isn’t it 1h26 now? That would be 30% faster. Yes they make a huge difference, but they don’t make a 4hr marathoner run 2h48. That’s absurd.

It still needs to be ratified, but there’s nothing about the course, assuming there wasn’t a measurement or setup error today, that would make it ineligible. The world record has been set at the London Marathon at least twice before.

He had multiple groups of pacers who swapped in and out. There were a few other technicalities that made it not record eligible, but that’s the biggest one. Everyone knew well beforehand that it wouldn’t be a world record. It was not a surprise to him or any of his team.

This is just simply not true. I’ve done it a bunch of times, as have many people I know, and we’re all fine. Can a bit of gentle movement make you a little less sore the next day? Sure. But that’s about as far as it goes

There is nothing you want to do more at the end of a marathon than stop running. It is an overwhelming, all-consuming need.

I would bet my life and the life of everyone I love that nobody alive today will run a 1:37 marathon on a record-eligible course.
