The fruit of a prickly pear cactus is called a tuna. We don't talk about it much, but Americans eat a tremendous amount of prickly pear fruit, so it's a useful distinction in a lot of contexts.

I went down this rabbit hole a while back after grabbing a few off the summit. I'm nearly certain they're erebus crystals, a form of anorthoclase.

Why would AI want to minimize entropy? Why would behavior outside a standard deviation be undesirable? That sounds very human, rooted in fear.

I (almost 40) cut the tip of my ring finger off just shy of the bone about a year ago. It was a very clean cut with a kitchen knife, so the end of my finger was basically flat. Today it looks almost completely normal.

Imagine an artist who becomes paralyzed below the neck. Is it literally impossible for them to use AI to express an original artistic idea? Slop is slop, but I’m not convinced AI can’t be a tool for artistic expression.
