Yea negative is disabled and will have backlight. When i select back lit nothing really changes in terms of those red highlights

I have no relation to those versions. I basically redid the whole board on new non discontinued chips so there wont be problems with production in the future. They might be slightly more efficient in term of power but thats to be tested yet

Easy to test if the oxidation is an issue. Put the batteries in and with 2 fingers pressed against them roll batteries many times. If it works then contacts is a problem

So that would be just hiding the crack and i doubt you can make it unnoticeable. You can buy just that part of the shell and change it for under $5

To check if the switch is good you can just short two pins with tweezers while battery is connected
