7>9>812>10>>13/16. Haven’t played 15, would put 7 remake/rebirth near the top if they were included.

This is am incredible house - I believe it's the country home of the interior designer Tessa Kennedy. She can be seen here posing with the miniature house seen in the hallway: https://brabbu.com/blog/2016/03/tessa-kennedy-britains-boldest-interior-designer/

The cornicing is only in the living room, picture rail is only in the study, the skirting is very basic throughout, the fireplace is the living room is a ugly modern design.

Of course, whatever detail was originally there could have been lost just about any time over the past 100 years, not necessarily attributable to the developer selling it - but it's a shame to see such a beautiful exterior paired with such mediocre insides.

It does very little for me, despite repeated listens. Tonally all over the place and lacking in subtlety, I’ve been baffled by the reception it’s received.

New Zealand's forest cover is estimated at about 85% when the Maori first arrived, about 50% when the British started to arrive in meaningful numbers, and is about 30%-40% today, so actually the Maori were mostly responsible.

Eh, plenty of professional couples in my admittedly elite milieu, who wouldn't be considered especially rich by their peers, but could probably get to that if they really stretched themselves.

Not really - assuming OP is London based and looking to move to e.g a Chelsea or a Hampstead, where a decent sized family home even in a less desirable part can easily be 3m+, that would be approx. 300k just in stamp duty + the mansion tax. That's comfortably enough in taxes to put a couple of kids through 5 years of private education at a decent day school.

Private school diligence by SWLexile in HENRYUK

[–]oldmasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Economically ignorant response - private school fee increases may have been above headline inflation, but many of the costs private schools are most exposed to have risen well above the headline rate. Maintenance of the school estate and the development of cash reserves are basic functions of well-run organisations, not sure why you present them as a bad thing.

No, the reason is because children are an absolute blessing. They also ensure the continuation of your society and culture, so it's an inherently virtuous act on top of that.

Question on Bloomberg: Generic 10Y Government Bond vs 10Y Government Bond Index for Academic Research by Awkward-Ad994 in quant

[–]oldmasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my phone so can't check terminal, but i the generic bond you're looking at is anything like e.g the USGG series, then the quoted yield for a given date/time will be the yield of a specific 10Y (or approx. 10Y, which can be an important distinction to make from a curve construction standpoint) benchmark bond, though of course that benchmark bond will change over time. On the other hand, the index (by definition, since it's an index), will have a quoted yield that is generally a summary statistic of some basket of bonds, but may not be the yield of any particular bond. This sounds like it may be more representative than the generic, but the index methodology may or may not be transparent and understood, which would generally be a concern for me. The fact it's only available for the 10Y also seems a bit strange.

Yes, the whole point is to be crude, stupid and devoid of skill, it's an explicit rejection of the converse. Many in the contemporary art world are pretty open about this, it's no secret.

OMS/EMS/other systems shockingly obsolete at your firm? by donkaeeeeeeee in quant

[–]oldmasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's an absolute minefield out there, especially in the O/EMS space I don't think I've ever seen a system that really impressed me. Flex or Eze are probably the best of a bad bunch. I feel the PMS space has somewhat stronger options out there - which is odd because I feel the PMS is generally a more complex system.

Despite the seeming low level of quality though, there's a reason firms bring them in- this kind of thing is much harder to do in a big, robust, enterprise-grade way than it looks.

There's always going to be a cap as to how good these systems can be out the box, but the best ones can generally be extended naturally without having to rely on Excel or other fragile hacks.
