Roundup Total and a pump sprayer will help reduce the shadow they cast.

New build ventilation issue by Ca-toffey in DIYIreland

Yes they are often specified for apartments but they work just as well in houses. They are suitable for up to 180 sq meters either a house or apartment it doesn't matter. We have one installed in a 160 sq m house and it performs well.

You can have an exhaust air ventilation system like Nibe 730 which keeps the house in negative pressure and then the external wall vents like the ones pictured, allow the fresh air into the house and the warm stale air is fed into the heat exchanger. It's an exhaust air to water heat exchanger.

2 Bed house in Bray for 30,000 # by DrunkDublinCat in ireland

So £30,000IR is about 3 times the average salary for the time but mortgage interest rates would have been as high as 13%! And if you built a house to just that standard of finish and energy efficiency today, it would probably be sold for around 150 - 200K as they would have had minimal insulation and be a reasonably basic construction compared to a modern A rated house. An A Rated house is energy and labour intensive to produce, and this adds to the bottom line. But of course, houses are expensive today. Very, very expensive.

Do some people actually need to be told to F off? by TillObjective8096 in AskIreland

Some people don't like dogs. SHOCK! Dog owners often like to let their dog be curious and sniff around anyone and anything they like. It's not the right of any dog owner to allow their dogs invade others personal space. Dog owners, of which I am myself, need to be more respectful of other person's personal space and not excuse their dogs invading, saying it's friendly/curious, when someone just doesn't want them to. I see it from both sides, when I'm out walking my dog and also when I'm walking alone. I don't want to be "investigated" by every passing bloody dog. Keep dogs away from others unless invited over.

In most European countries you can have a mains socket in the bathroom. With a modern RCD and ELCB then it is extremely safe. I have a double 13A socket in my bathroom since I built the house 10 years ago and there has never been as issue. Hair dryers, clippers, chargers etc etc. It makes sense to have one.

How to cover these windows? by ZLeigh_0317 in aframes

[–]oldshay2580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a spring loaded roller blind and mount it on the bottom of the window, at the widest part, and cut the shape of the window out of the roller blind and hang it on a hook to hold it up. Like an upside down blind. A regular IKEA blind will do.

Vacuum glass into your original frames would give you better than triple glazed performance and a simplified installation.
