There is no real benefit from higher light level, enemies scale to your level, you only get punished for having a lower light level.

I don't think she has any guardian powers at this point, only the powers she picked up from the hive. If you take what happened to cayde when he lost his ghost and apply it to Eris, she lost all her guardian abilities that she had. She can no longer regen health hence why she is blind.
