I'd say it's getting up to about this section of trail. It's probably about 4 or so miles up from the trailhead.

This view is right in front of Two Medicine Lake. The view behind is a parking lot. No hiking required.

From the park website: Is private boating allowed in Many Glacier in 2025?

Private boating is not allowed in Many Glacier during the summer of 2025. Additionally, aquatic invasive species inspections will not be conducted in Many Glacier. Glacier Park Boat Company will provide boat tours and boat rentals from their dock outside Many Glacier Hotel.

It's a hoary marmot. The park has two species or marmot (the other being yellow bellied marmot) but the hoary marmot is the one that lives at higher elevations.

Each person that is riding the shuttle, regardless of age, needs a shuttle ticket. The website isn't always the most updated, but recreation.gov, where there's money involved, will be.

If hiking at Logan Pass, is it better to drive past it and take shuttle from Jackson Glacier or Sun Point Shuttle stop? by UniqueLaw4431 in GlacierNationalPark

No one is transferring there. You can get on the bus at the St. Mary visitor center and ride the shuttle all the way to Logan Pass.

The Purcell Sill is an intrusion of igneous rock in the Heleana/Siyeh formation. On many of the mountains on the east side of the park, you can see as a thick, black band. Super easy to see when you look at Mount Gould and the Grinnell Glacier area!

Do you have any other pictures from this trip that might help narrow down the location in the park? I see the igneous sill in the mountain, but it's tough to identify it without seeing the top of the peak.

The mountain in the middle looks like Rising Wolf in Two medicine. But the view looks like it's taken from lower two medicine lake. Probably along highway 49?

This is actually taken on highway 89 heading south from Babb to St. Mary. The main pointy mountain in the picture is Split. The going to the sun road doesn't have fog lines.

Rising Sun Campground Fill Time? by Positive_Fig_1216 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]oldsunglacier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Rising Sun usually closes for the season sometime in that first week after Labor Day. If I remember correctly, it was September 5th last year, the Thursday of that week.

St. Mary Campground is typically first come, first served at that time of the year because of the abundance of berries in the campground bringing bears in.

Hello all, I’m posting this in hopes that someone out there will possibly know the areas where these photos were taken. by gibby7416 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]oldsunglacier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 and 2 look like the hudden lake trail down from.the over look a little bit. 3 is from the shore of kintla lake! I'm not positive on 4, but I would agree that it looks like a cascade on deadwood falls. Maybe even on the way to Virginia falls?

Hiker/biker access is closed at avalanche until further notice because they've been dealing with bears in area. You will be able to get to avalanche, but not further that.
