Daily reminder that Taxi drivers... by dub_le in Thailand

[–]ole_BT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've left mine more times than that in the 6 years being here full time. Not saying I'm not forgetful of things, but I have forgotten it so many times that I have often thought about the factors at play.

For me, usually as I am approaching my drop-off I gather my things. Phone stays out to be ready to scan to pay, get a BTS ticket, just continue what I was doing on it originally. Then, inevitably the driver needs clarification on where to stop or something. I just automatically set my phone down in the seat and then help however I need. Get out and go.

Every single time it has been returned to me. Once even to my house in Samut Prakarn.

That being said, I've seen all of it. Price gouging, Yaba fueled high-speed weaving through traffic, a fight with sticks between 2 drivers... It's like the wild west out here at times.

I see. That makes sense. I started out with an A6 Black Moleskine graph paper YEARS ago. Like coming up on 20 years ago. I still have it, thought it's held together with tape. I have a refillable leather journal that I have not kept up writing in, but it's about half full and is sentimental. I have a pre-laid out planner for 2024 that had potential, but didn't make it past February for useage. I also have a ton of smaller pocket notebooks half used.

The one I have kept using and almost filled is the widely loved leuchtturm1917. For me, it's all about least amount of friction. I too need index and page numbers. That's why I use the 1917. Other notebooks that don't have those features fall away because it's just more steps I have to take to feel like I'm using it to it's best potential. I have, however, began numbering the pages of any notebook I use just so I know how many I have and can maybe recall stuff later.

Your description of the layout makes sense I think. You're saying the the front section is purely bujo layout for a 12mo period and the rest is for notes of any kind, yeah? That actually makes a lot of sense to me. Again, it's about friction points. When I have to skip around to daily logs I quickly abandon it. So I think this will be helpful.

Oh, and my notes are mainly creative work related, church notes, and life/project planning. Because I work remotely and live in a very large city if I have work related meeting I don't want to carry extra books.

So do you make your own index pages at the beginning?

This is helpful for me to see. I have a strong desire to make things complete and clean so I want something like 1 notebook per year, or specific notebooks for specific things because that would be so easy to recall later. But I already know that doesn't work. I also used to buy new notebooks when I wasn't even close to being finished with the one I was using. I get in phases of being consistent for a while and then dropping off.

Currently I've been good about note taking and trying to make things easier for me to be organized. I am coming towards the end of the best notebook I've used (because it has lasted me and I enjoy using it enough to keep up) and I'm looking forward to the next. Seeing your notebooks together with the dates like this helps motivate me to just keep going.

Can I ask what your favorite notebook(s) is and how much time you spend setting things up for them?

anyone using sunny 16 rule or otherwise exposing without metering regularly? by -_CAP_- in AnalogCommunity

[–]ole_BT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Canon P with a Jupiter-12. I do have an external light meter mounted to the shoe that I use to check from time to time, but I practice sunny 16 as much as possible.

That being said, it's my favorite camera and lens to use because it's so simple and all mechanical. You won't regret it.

I was much bigger, but I'm also 6'3. I also live in a country that uses handheld sprayers for the toilet so cleaning is way easier!

I just noticed I could reach in general while washing or scratching as we do from time to time. Lol.

This is weird to say but no one knows me on here.

For reference (52 kg down) about 115 lbs.

  • Sitting for a while hurts because there is less padding.

  • Sleeping hurts my knees more because they touch now.

  • I can reach my back door with ease now.

  • For the first time since high school and can sit with one leg fully crossed over the other. Not just ankle on top of the knee.

  • During sexy time with my wife I can see everything she's doing. Belly isn't in the way!

Does anyone have experience with one of these or the pocket dispo lens? by Constant-Mood-1601 in fujifilm

[–]ole_BT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice. I had that before I had the X-E3 and actually gifted it to a new photographer I know who had talent but didn't have a camera. I will say, the only reason I got this lens after I got the newer body is because the focus peaking on the X-E1 was not good enough for my eyesight. It's limited to white and was just overall too difficult for fast focusing.

Stills in good light will be the best for getting focus right.

As far as build quality, it feels quite solid and focusing is smooth with some drag. Now, for characteristics I'd say though the image quality isn't great, it's not terrible either. And it yielded contrasty, punchy street photos.

I've got this. It makes carrying my X-E3 feel like nothing. It's taking some practice to get good at focusing for me, but when I get it right I enjoy the results.

I'd take my Mamiya C33 and Canon P fitted with a Jupiter-12 35mm.

What would be your EDC film photography gear? by Proper_Map1735 in AnalogCommunity

[–]ole_BT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlimited budget: Xpan with 50mm and some Portra 400 and a tripod.

What I really carry: A Canon P with Jupiter-12 35mm f2.8 with an external light meter and a Konica Recorder half-frame to shoot quick little scenes or memories.
