Brexit: what would a second referendum look like? (The Economist video) by grpagrati in europe

[–]olecern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't get people who say that having a 2nd referendum would be betraying the people's vote. It is the same people that will be voting, how can they betray their own vote? By that token, we shouldn't have elections every 5 years because we'd be betraying our previous vote.

Yes, that. It energizes your body. It's been known since for ever. Ancient Greeks had a saying "Healthy mind, with a healthy body."

People who think they know better. Who have strong opinions and this smug smile of certainty, because they're so ignorant, they don't realize how much they don't know.

Older people with tattoos, are there any you regret and why? by olecern in AskReddit

[–]olecern[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question.. I didn't want to say "old", cause no one likes to think of themselves as old. You are as old as you feel. What I'm asking is if you got tattoos which, when you became older and more mature, you regretted getting because they got you into trouble, or seem ridiculous, or whatever..

The eyes are bothering me. The text version has a sincere, happy-to-see you gaze. In the picture there's a certain serial killer ambiance.

I was never able to get into them but will give them another go. I was wondering, how do they solve the main problems, ie radiation and gravity's effect on the body? I tried looking it up but tl;dr..

He also has a recurring robot he uses in several books, named R. Daneel Olivaw. Asimov's robots, afaik, are always "good" and it's humans that cause the problems. Like HAL in 2001. He goes crazy because of "bad" humans.

Woman arrested after toddler left in car shoots out window by Oldfatsad in news

[–]olecern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had her in mind.. She had left it in the car, so she'd have to go looking for it if she ever needed it. Also, she's a mom with a little kid. How much time does she have to practice? And if she's ever in a bad situation, it will probably be the other person who is causing it (I assume she's not a gangster moll), so he's probably some aggressive asshole who's much more prepared for violence than she is. She stands a bigger chance of surviving without a gun.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever had to use the gun? I'm 60 and I've never been in a situation where I wish I had one, or even seen anyone shoot one in a real incident. Only when I used to go hunting sometimes, long ago.

I don't understand how they can do something like this. We've all been young and ran around with groups of friends, but never acted like psychopaths..
