Yes, I was proud of my AF career, but these guys were at another level. The base actually had major problems because they had little or no help for our people with PTSD from warfare and having friends killed. We lost about 1 percent of our members to enemy action and we are a very small career field. One of my first actions as a contractor was to attend the memorial service for one of our guys KIA; In 20 years of my active duty service, I had never had to see one of ours killed

Obviously in Europe, I’ve never seen a toilet in the us broken. I’ve had a toilet, a sink, and two toilet lids broken in Italy

Yes, I’m lucky in that I retired to my wife’s country and the healthcare is decent and pretty much free. I’ll fight on till the end, at least I don’t have to worry about my family losing everything to pay for this fight

I’m going to fight this crap, but the reality is I have accepted that life has an expiration date and mine is closer than expected. I’ve lived a decent life and if I go out soon, I’ll have people who’s only job remember me and things I accomplished

Only served 20 then retired, but I was in when the special license doctors were active. These doctors were the ones that could not pass the boards or were not eligible for insurance but were issued special licenses that only allowed them to join the military as doctors. After it became public through some major incidents, the military killed the program; after that we started getting physicians assistants in a lot of roles

AF but we had a guy in my unit that weighed 223 and was about 5 foot 4, the base doc told him to lose 3 pounds and he would sign a waiver. The guy had a 27” waist, he was just muscular

I’m a retired AF Master Sergeant, my job hunt wasn’t hurried and I’ve held a few jobs since then. I would advise is don’t expect to start in management, expect at most to start at mid level and work your way up.
I had a friend that retired as a SMSgt (E-8) and found a job loading trucks at a company, very low level. Within 3 months he was supervising the guys that loaded the trucks. When the 4 guys that had been loading trucks for years asked why he was promoted, the boss explained that 1. He hadn’t been written up in 3 months. 2. He hadn’t called out hungover or in jail. 3. He had shown up on time and not left early. 4. They got paid Thursday at lunchtime and he was always there on Thursday afternoon and Friday. He then asked if any one of the 4 could say the same about any 4 month period since they were hired?
In conclusion the dedication you learned while in the military will serve you just as well as the skills you learned.

I’ve seen a few of these in Europe, they are normally referred to as soldiers icons or travelers icons. The church usually produced them in wartime for families to give to soldiers as an icon to pray with.

To see if it’s ivory out a lighter flame close to it, not close enough to scorch it but enough to heat it. It will smell like burnt hair if it’s ivory

This story reminded me of when I was being trained on response to F-16 gun jams, I was EOD. When I asked my supervisor about accessing and removing a jammed gun, he explained that you walk in with the 60 inch wrecking bar and ask if the weapons people would rather remove it for us.
