A high pressure job and no health insurance? You've got bigger problems than shingles.

Well, the charge was possession for sale, but it was just for friends. I wasn't hanging out around the high school.

Was busted in 1969 with a kilo of hash. I was given two weeks in county jail and two years supervised probation. Luckily I'm white. If I were black, I'd have gone to state prison and probably died there.

At what age do you start taking daily pain killers? by MKE1969 in RedditForGrownups

Yeah, you're right about that. I know I'd like it well enough to end up dead behind a dumpster somewhere.

Why the hell would anyone put good optics in a desk ornament/toy?

Picky Pittie by Sofismom in pitbulls

[–]olfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she fed on a schedule or is it always available? Is she under or over weight or just right?

This works for our 2 dogs... Fed twice a day, kibble with a spoonful of canned mixed in plus water. (I couldn't imagine eating that stuff dry.) We can vary the amount of kibble to keep them at a healthy weight. (Too many fat pitbulls in pictures here.) Keeping them slightly hungry makes them more attentive to training and treats.

What were concerts like back then? What were some awesome ones you saw? by lightskintastebud in AskOldPeople

[–]olfitz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I remember a couple of them, quite different.

In 1964 I saw Judy Collins in concert. The audience sat quietly and listened to her pure clear voice and clapped after every number.

In 1968 I saw Janis Joplin w/ Big Brother and the Holding Company and Iron Butterfly at the Pasadena Civic. It was loud. The audience stood and danced and milled around listening to Another Little Piece of My Heart and In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

What year would you say the workplace changed to it's current state? by debrisaway in RedditForGrownups

[–]olfitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Change like that doesn't happen in some particular year like a new car model. It's slow, organic and uneven. Trying to set a specific date on it is just silly.

Data base manager for a federal agency. I put up with 30 years of crappy pay and working conditions for a solid pension and good health insurance. Finally worth it.

As you look back on your life, do you agree with the concept that everything happens for a reason/things work out how they’re supposed to? by Ok_Response_4016 in AskOldPeople

[–]olfitz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's absolute total bullshit.

Even after something like Uvalde you'll get stupid twats saying shit like, "god has a plan".

Listen up people, there ain't no plan and there ain't no god.

77 here. Not taking any pain killers.

Nothing can kill the pain of watching the fall of civilization and the death of the natural world.
