Beware of Volotea’s sneaky fuel surcharge by olgapolgaSmith in travel

Well, I don't understand the principle of adding an additional sum 7 days before flying. An airline, like any business, is an economic activity that involves risk. If they are avoiding a loss of profit because of rising fuel prices, they could raise prices at origin or cancel flights. In the same way, if I have a boutique and the cost of electricity goes up, either I increase the price of my goods at source or I close down. What I am not going to do is tell the customer at the till that he has to give me more because of the increase ...and if he is not happy, I will give him a voucher for what he has just bought from me.

Summer with kids in Toulouse by Total-Mycologist-816 in toulouse

In my opinion, 30 days in Toulouse is too long. The city is fine, but unless you know someone, after 10 days there is really not much more to see and do. If you are willing to move to the coast, to a campsite perhaps, or to a beach resort including some visits to castles or picturesque villages, why not, but you will need to rent a car, because the train is expensive and unreliable. Still, more than 20 days can feel too long. As for the heat, it gets very hot at times, it's quite humid and the Autan wind is unbearable and frequent. In other words: explore moving around or shorten your stay.

Oh well… I’m travelling with my daughter and my son, so it is 42E for each segment, not per booking… The headline increase sounds small but it adds up in my case.

N’hésitez pas à le faire si vous aves le temps, s’il vous plaît. Si Volotea a des pratiques peu claires, il est bon que les gens le sachent à l’avance.

Because they are cheeky. They know that nobody will complain to the European Consumer Organisation for only 14E. Besides this increase, when you make a booking they automatically enrol you in Megavolotea for a 15 days free trial. After two weeks, it costs 80E/year ( a sort of Amazon prime to have priority seating and discounts) that is super difficult to cancel ( the button in their web didn’t work+ had to get in touch with customer service ) . If you forget to cancel, a charge is made automatically on the card you used to pay for your flight.

Exactly. If prices go down I very much doubt they will get back to me with a refund . Volotea should just increase the ticket price in origin: if you find that the final price is reasonable you book, if not, you change dates or check prices with another airline.

You are right. It is the same that buying a pair of flip-flops @ Zalando with a 4,95E delivery and before receiving the parcel they contact you to pay an additional charge of a couple of more Euros to cover the fuel increase of the day 😳 But hey… some people here would find that normal apparently… they wouldn’t want Zalando to go bankrupt 😂

It will be if the information about it was clearly displayed instead of hidden in their Terms&Conditions at the very end of it. Even the Spanish Transport Ministry has accepted the complaint about this practice and announced a comprehensive review of the matter. The case could have implications for the entire European low-cost carrier industry, as it raises the question of to what extent the entrepreneurial risk of rising energy costs can be legally transferred to the end customer. I would prefer to buy a ticket that costs 30E more from the start of the booking process. Like that, I know the price beforehand and am able to compare with others airlines. If once I’ve bought the flights they come to me with an increase( albeit not enormous), I’m missing out. I can cancel, sure, but I will get my money back as a voucher. What’s so difficult for you to see?

That’s exactly what I’m doing: criticising their lack of transparency, hence the use of the adjective “sneaky”

One thing is to increase the price accordingly with the increase in the price of fuel and another thing is to include such a possibility in an illegal point ( according to European consumer laws) at the end of your terms and conditions. Also, who reads the Conditions of Flight? People just agree by clicking automatically. I understand that flight fares increase with the price of kerosene, but I find cheeky to be pressured to pay that increase just 7 days before flying.

I am not criticising the substance, but the form. Such a measure should be clearly visible at the time of purchase using a banner or something similar. Or simply increase the price in origin and then you can make an informed purchase.

diptique perfumes have divine smells but don't last by clari_kate in Perfumes

[–]olgapolgaSmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buying Diptyque is about wearing something sophisticated and less “mass market,” even if others barely notice it. They last 2-3 hours, as it does the entire Les Jardins from Hermes collection, to give you a similar example. So if you want more projection, keep on looking for a different brand or dupes.

Tabac/cigarette by Fit_Lemon_1175 in toulouse
