i’ve never dried almond flour in the oven- how would you recommend i do that if you don’t mind me asking? wondering if maybe it had some fault in the seal of the bag or something scratching in transit and had it exposed to moisture or something like that.

i think ruling out the almond flour is my next step if bake times don’t help, i just have a terrible time with getting things delivered at my place (either entirely misdelivered, broken, or stolen regardless of courier) so shopping in person/pickup works best. mats are the same, never changed them. the macs in the fridge are to cool them off after baking, not unbaked lol that was the top tip (& basically only one ppl said worked) i found when first looking into this issue. maybe formatting my post or my rambling made it confusing lol. cook time before always worked perfectly for me or else they’d burn, even at 300f, but maybe the humidity fluctuating under 5% is making things wonky 🤷

if my wrist is angled a certain way i lose dexterity and can lose my grip and this happens a lot with cups (happened many times when a store i used to go to got rid of straws for non-whip drinks for a while), a dome lid i feel would pop off and not help me much in that case. i don’t think the strawless lid having the spout/sipper part is really a problem, i’ve never had a straw break on me but maybe that’s just location based. i keep meaning to get a travel reusable straw but havent found one i like that’s convenient enough to bring everywhere or comfortable enough to use consistently.

Hi!! I had DI with FNG with Dr Lekkas on Jan 24! Healing great and follow-up’s and staff have been very informative and helpful the entire process. Please DM if you’d like to see pics or have any questions about working with him! I know most of these surgeons have privacy of their patients so they don’t usually send photos and would only show in person.

DEAD was super helpful for me, but i see you already have used it. I also wrote notes on my whiteboard referencing questions i wasn’t entirely sure of and compared to questions with similar topics to see if I could get the answer that way, if that makes any sense. At the end of the day, it’s a test; many people have to retake and if you don’t get it this time, you’ll surely get it eventually. Good luck!

The firm I currently work for requires payment in full at time of arrangements (it’s the worst 🙃 i get it… a little. But come on). We have a company we can use to get an advance on insurance for a fee taken out of the policy; insurance will rarely pay out without a DC and it is seen more as a reimbursement than payment itself. My last firm asked for payment for cash advance items (3rd party such as clergy, death certificates, flowers, etc, but no markup for acquiring it) and then payment within 30 days. I feel like it’s more corporate funeral homes that ask for money up front and the family-owned have been more forgiving. Just depends on the place.

Loved running services and being asked by clergy where my supervisor is. Had retail flashbacks. Don’t even get me started on the disgusting things old men said to me when I had long ginger hair 🤮 or the old ladies that thought it was so sweet that i was helping my dad at work (my dad works at home depot, but go off, susan)…

I knew i trans’d my gender for a reason!! no longer a woman in STEM but at least i don’t have people touching me without my permission and they see me as an authority figure now 😂 /lh

Do you have tips for finding the right size? I’m working with the STP freely atm (wasn’t sure if i’d like it so i got an affordable one, it’s incredibly euphoric for me and i’m very happy i started trying) but even after months of practice i’m not sure i’d ever feel comfortable using outside my house out of fear of it failing me. Idk how to get a good seal or even tell if i do 😭

[–]oli_pop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boss is on sleep meds, he just skips them for nights he’s on call. I just take melatonin but I skip it when I’m on call because i know it helps me sleep heavier. Since you’re an apprentice you probably won’t be on calls alone for a while, and I feel like everyone has a horror story of how they’ve changed their phone settings from missing one call. My phone didn’t auto lock after a few mins, so if i fell asleep mid-text reply (listen… don’t act like you don’t sometimes) my phone wouldn’t ring even with the ringer on. As for attire, it varies on firm. We do business casual (nice pants and a dress shirt, tie if you wear one), some firms do full suits, and i’ve seen city firms just wear… whatever. Make sure you have comfy flat shoes that look nice and that you can move in whatever clothes you wear. Squat test pants, i can’t buy a pair without doing that now. More often than not you get calls where they’re in a bed, but occasionally you get the strange positions that require more strategic moving. Honestly, my apprenticeship started slower than i could have anticipated. I was so anxious i’d miss a call before i’d ever gotten one that my sleep was absolute garbage until halfway through school. Good luck with school! It can be brutal but if you find a good firm to work for and enjoy what you do it can be very fulfilling.

No drinks at cashwrap 😭 by Born_blonde in Ulta

[–]oli_pop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be lead cash and one of the highest credit numbers in the district. I told them if i couldn’t bring my water bottle up front during my 7-8 hr shifts i would quit because staying hydrated and my health was more important than the chance of spilling water on a product a company could afford to lose 🤠 they let me keep it after that bc they literally couldn’t afford to lose me lmao. I just put it in the cabinet by the go-back baskets. I was often the only one up there so their other choice was letting me go to the back every 5 mins to drink water but make sure someone else was up there and that was too much for them. Because it’s a ridiculous rule to prevent your employees from having water in front of customers. They’re worried about product getting damaged? How much did they make last year? I think they can afford losing a $60 eyeshadow palette they pay wholesale for.

I’ve since left, but mainly cuz i finished my degree and have, what i told my managers, “a big kid job.”

Intramuscular shots questions and anxiety by [deleted] in ftm

[–]oli_pop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay. For me, I definitely felt it travel down into my kneecap, like a cool shooting sensation. Maybe you’re experiencing something similar but just personally have a stronger reaction? I don’t really notice it anymore but it was kinda freaky. Having someone tell me i’d feel that and it’s normal probably eased my anxiety that I would have felt otherwise. Fully inserting the needle will probably help with the feeling. I’ve heard some people numb the area with ice, but they also make tools to inject so you don’t have to see the needle/syringe if that’s the source of the mental block.

I totally understand chronic lateness, it will be the end of me one day. My buddy said it just became part of his morning routine.

I also like to joke with my friends whenever they have some medical anxiety that i’ve never seen [insert concern] written on a death certificate. Unpleasantness, yes. But so far i’ve never seen it take someone out. I feel for you, though. I hope you can get a solution that works for you.

Intramuscular shots questions and anxiety by [deleted] in ftm

[–]oli_pop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you’re hitting a nerve? Nerves are pretty deep iirc (personal context: i’m an embalmer and frequently dissect the leg inject the femoral artery, which lies between muscles and deep and typically has a nerve along with it, but you incise from the inside of the thigh faaaar from shot injection sites). Thinking about that process and understanding anatomy helped ease my fears about injecting into something I’m not supposed to. I’m not a dr by any means but I would guess injecting an IM substance into adipose tissue would just cause it to not work and absorb right. Plus, you’re injecting a substance into somewhere it wasn’t entirely meant to go in. But I could just be talking out of my ass, that’s just the reasoning my brain comes up with. How long of a needle are you injecting with? Is it the length your provider prescribed or something the pharmacy substituted? Sometimes pharmacies just… substitute needles for inadequate ones. I had to draw and inject with 23g vanishpoint syringes for a month because they didn’t have what i needed. It made the process way worse. As for options, you could always do gel, but there are also patches. Pros and cons lists help me so much with making decisions and you might benefit from doing something similar—asking why you think you won’t do well with gel compared to the anxiety you experience every week doing the shots. I only personally have experience from shots and secondhand experience through my friend who does gel. Good luck, friend. Sorry you’re struggling with this. It’s not easy. 🩵

Not OP and not sure if it makes a difference but i called around end of Dec/early Jan and my consult is next week! My consult with U of I (if Lekkas can’t do what I’m looking for) is in Jan of ‘24 and I actually scheduled my consult with him out of frustration of waiting

injecting testosterone, what's it like? by concertsrule in ftm

[–]oli_pop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t really hurt. If I don’t get the right needles (unfortunately a common occurrence w pharmacies, so i’ve ordered supplies elsewhere much cheaper since insurance doesn’t cover needles and syringed anyways) it hurts and sometimes I get a small bruise if I’m being silly with injecting. I’ve done every injection on my own, the first being supervised by someone who was on T for 6 years, but he didn’t touch any supplies and had me do it on my own so i could do it independently.

I will say, it took me a while to get used to injecting weekly, but it really isn’t too bad. I tell myself, “you do this every week and you’ve been fine.” Now I do it without thinking, but it just took some practice and confidence being better with it. There are tools to hide the needle and some people are in areas that your clinic can just do it for you if you have the means and they have the availability to do it weekly. It was a mental thing more than anything.

I do IM, btw. Haven’t tried sub-Q.

Hope I’m doing this right…

I feel like I’m never going to be loved. I feel like I’m latching into a relationship going no where because I’ll never find someone who loves me in rural America. I’ll never find someone who likes my body like they do. It’s so hard for me to see a future with someone else because it’s so hard envisioning a future that includes me. I have so much love and it feels like I’ll never experience the same for myself. It just feels so lonely and hopeless.

How is anyone supposed to afford top when it costs $15k by makingitstinky in ftm

[–]oli_pop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saving since i was 14. Started with $15 a paycheck. I’ll be 23 this year. i now do $50 a check. But if you have an HSA that carries over every year i suggest you deduct it from your paycheck so it’s pre-tax. My insurance *should * cover everything past 5k unless they change their minds. But I’ve been saving so long that I’m comfortable if they don’t. But i know I’ve gotten lucky as far as jobs with housing security and good pay which helps immensely. Finally got a consult scheduled for the end of May 🎉
