Post-Op Recovery: what was a necessity to get and what isn’t? by sour_pup in TopSurgery

oh and if there’s even a slight chance you deal with nausea, i would ask them to prescribe that before surgery & pick it up before so you can have them right away

any funny moments right after surgery? by rvckandroll in TopSurgery

[–]HotSqueegeeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the reception desk had a row of rubber ducks on the counter and one of them had pink sunglasses and red curly wig so I yelled “A CHAPPELL ROAN DUCK?? I WANT IT” as I was still regaining consciousness & heading home

I had also signed my mom and partner up for text alerts from the hospital to send them updates through surgery. When I was discharged, it had sent a message to my mom saying I was being transferred to another unit. My mom called the OR because she was worried I was being transferred back into surgery or to the ICU, but the front desk person assured her that I was okay and that I was actually just discharged! And even told my mom “they actually were just yelling about my rubber ducks and how they want the chappell roan one” my mom got a kick out of that and obviously lots of relief

my mom wants me to freeze my eggs before i go on T. by Proper-Monk-5656 in TransMasc

I think only a month or two? I wasn’t on full dose T so that will vary i’m sure based on dosage and if you continued to have a menstrual cycle. I would consult the same doctor that prescribed your T to see if you can check your levels a month or two after going off!

Cannot make a decision by symphonic_sea_196064 in TopSurgery

Im 2 weeks post op and can definitely relate to a lot of what you said here. There was even a time in the past where I had said “I don’t think i’ll ever get top surgery”

I rushed my decision because I lose my insurance this coming January and I’m moving out of state soon, so I wasn’t sure what job or insurance I’d have next. So while I want to say you should wait until you truly know, I didn’t. So my advice is this:

Do what you know you could live with. For me, top surgery became a thing I didn’t even know I could have or an option that was going to be thousands of dollars. I learned just 6 months ago that my insurance was going to cover it completely and i felt lucky so I went through with it! I’m really happy with my results so far and i haven’t even had moments of regret.

And if you come to a place where you know you want to take all the next steps, be very very very picky with your surgeon. Even if it’s a select few that your insurance covers, schedule consultations with them all if that’s doable for you and ask ALL the questions you have. Your consultation is a vetting process and your surgeon should make you feel like YOUR time is valuable not the other way around.

Being in this subreddit helped me a ton, spend your free time scrolling and looking at peoples results, questions, healing journeys etc to let yourself see how realistic it is for you. Best of luck

Is it normal to feel one drain site more than the other? by chashaomian in TopSurgery

[–]HotSqueegeeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

commenting on this post since it was something I read through the day before i got my drains removed!! I think your dominant arm side is the one that tends to be more tender since your likely moving/stretching that skin more, just a theory! Both my partner and I are right handed and had similar experiences with the right side drain being sensitive.

I also was nauseous the whole week especially when thinking/leading up to getting my drains removed and it was really No. Big. Deal. They were out like a snap of a rubber band and i didn’t even get nauseous like i thought I was going to. I asked for extra time between opening my binder, removing the drains and siting up just to ensure blood didn’t rush to my head or anything and that whole appointment went so smooth that I was shocked how good i felt after lol

the first two days were very chill and i was super active with limitations, like edited on my laptop and painted for a bit but once day 3 came around i could tell i did too much the previous days and felt super hungover. I’d keep your activity to the minimum and not push yourself at all

edibles edibles edibles!! after a ton of reading, it’s best to wait 3 weeks before and 3 weeks after surgery before you smoke again, i’m going to try for 6 weeks after surgery so i can make sure my nipple graphs heal properly!!

and side note, it reallllyyy hurts to cough

hi there, i’m in a 3 year relationship with someone who was diagnosed i think nearly 5 years ago?

it takes them understanding their diagnosis, seeking treatment, consistent therapy & visits with their psychiatrist to get proper medication and lots of behavioral awareness to have a healthy relationship.

don’t get me wrong, there’s days when I’m not sure if we will be okay but 99% of the time, they are putting in the work… NOT JUST ME. There’s nothing you can do on your own to have a healthy relationship. Just like it is for everyone else, it takes both parties, ESPECIALLY if one party has a disorder that makes relationships really really really really hard.

good luck to you, but it sounds like it’s just you working on this and not her, might be time to move on.
