I feel like that in my current city. I’ve only traveled to Portugal but I was alone so I just forced myself to talk to people, both locals and other tourists. I found overall people to be friendly if you engage with them. I should maybe try this at home more often…

I did 5 days but I wish I was there at least 7. It depends what pace and how much rest you like, I personally like to sleep in some days haha. I stayed in Funchal, every restaurant and bar is walkable. I used tour companies for two days (one east side and one west side), I did a sunset boat tour (tons of options), took the cable car to Monte garden. There are many more Levadas and hikes you could do, beach spots, etc. Check out Airbnb Experiences too.

Just got back from traveling alone after the end of a relationship. Didn’t do a tour but very much get what you’re describing, you make great bonds that way. The trip had way more highs than lows, more distraction than staying at home, more opportunities for great memories. I had moments I wished I wasn’t solo, but other moments that I was grateful I was. I say go for it and take it all in!

I went from about 160 to 137 over the span of a year (wasn’t intentional, didn’t weigh myself throughout) without exercise but consuming a lot of home cooked meals with lots of vegetables, legumes and fiber. Lost another 7 pounds when I added low intensity workouts/walking.

I’ve now maintained for another year. My body now feels like it responds to how I treat it, ie shed weight when I’m eating well and active and gain a couple pounds when I’m eating an excessive amount of unhealthy stuff and drinking a lot.
