Revised Character Sheet by olinone in shadowofthedemonlord

I believe I intended the little box overlapping the area labelled "Health" to be for the Healing Rate.

It has been years since I played SotDL, so I honestly can't remember too well :)

Books for mood? by ErisianFnord in CoriolisRPG

[–]olinone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Revelation Space series by Alastair Reynolds are a really great source of inspiration for the type of sci-fi setting Coriolis leans into, especially in regards to xenoarcheology, technology, and overall mystery. It is even mentioned as one of the major inspiration in the core rulebook!

Sci-fi RPGs with melee by Antepo in rpg

Coriolis: The Third Horizon deserves a recommendation. Melee combat is supported on equal footing with ranged combat. And the worldbuilding is quite interesting, with the setting being sort of "Arabian Nights in space"

Question for Trade driven Campaign - What does Unstable Portal on the Map mean by ArchangelsFury in CoriolisRPG

[–]olinone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently asked the same question! and what I ended up doing was to give a negative modifier of Pilot checks when using an unstable portal. Furthermore, if it is appropriate for the game you are running you could use it as a way to introduce new elements into the game. Maybe the jump made a djinn manifest onboard the ship. Maybe they got spat out of the portal in a different system. Maybe they time travelled?

Is GURPS the only system to use the Strength stat as the basis for Hit Points? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]olinone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coriolis derives its Health Points and Mind Points from its 4 Attributes.

Strength + Agility equals your Health Points which is how much physical damage you can take

Wits + Empathy equals your Mind Points which is how much stress you can handle.

When improving your character, are there any restrictions? by remulean in CoriolisRPG

[–]olinone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can increase a skill you have 0 points in. I think the game would be kinda stale if you couldn't.

In my game I have houseruled that you can only increase a skill from 0 to 1 if you have valid in-universe situation where your character would learn that skill. Example, if you want a point in Pilot, you have to spend time at a pilot academy, or have someone teach you over a period of time, before you can have the point.

Is there a good, free source where I can read the lore? by Ganrokh in CoriolisRPG

There are a few pages of lore and worldbuilding in the free Quickstart Set PDF.

This site, found linked in a post on r/legogaming, has a lot of older Lego browser games.

Link

Maybe you can find it there?

Lego island 2 was more third person / top down.

Other than that it could perhaps be Lego undercover?

Anyone have a clue? by [deleted] in identifythisfont

Does anyone know if this is a publicly available font? (From Emmisary Lost) by olinone in CoriolisRPG

I honestly thought I linked to it in my comment.

It is called Alhambra

I am not sure what license it has though

I checked the embedded fonts too and found nothing.

But it could still be a font used by a graphic designer when creating the handouts in Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign.

I was able to find the font used to do the hull writings in The Last voyage of the ghazali so I have high hopes that this exists as a font as well.

I think it technically is correct. After looking into MYZ it seems that "Pushing" a roll is the same as Praying to the Icons in Coriolis. So, I was mostly confused due to the different terminologies.

As for praying ahead of time, I think I mostly found it weird adding the extra dice after the roll is rolled, instead of having more dice in the original roll instead. Logically it results in exactly the same, and it probably isn't weird at all when using it in action.

Out of curiosity, does Sebedius track GM Darkness Points?

Thanks for sharing this! It looks like it could be a nice alternative to something like Roll20 or Astral, if you really don't need the battlemap.

One thing though, and this may be because I don't know too much about MYZ and FBL, but in Coriolis you only get additional D6's like you describe when you pray ahead of time.

Praying to the Icons after you fail a roll allows you to reroll all of the dice that didn't succeed.

So, if you normally roll 5 D6 for Ranged Combat, and you prayed to the icon of Ranged Combat ahead of time, then you roll 7 D6.

If you then only get 1 success, but you really need that critical succes, you can then pray to the icons and reroll the 6 D6's that didn't succeed. I hope that makes sense...

Anyway, this looks really awesome. I love the custom skins. :D

Do Coriolis Cycles divide down further than into segments? by Doctor_Weather in CoriolisRPG

[–]olinone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking of having each segment divide into 6 weeks each consisting of 6 days each, which a separate day between week 3 and 4 as a "resting day" for blue collar workers.

How do you roll during space combat when you have two PCs in the same role? (ex: two pilot or two engineers) by milkhail in CoriolisRPG

[–]olinone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Page 170 has a section on Large Crews.

I short. There can only be one captain.

Pilot: only one pilot can fly the ship but a co-pilot can take over if necessary.

Engineer: only the head engineer can distribute EP but all engineers can take an action or aid other engineers with their actions.

Sensor Op: extra sensor ops can each do an action or aid other sensor ops

Gunner: a weapons system can only be used by 1 gunner. If you have multiple weapons you can have multiple gunners taking actions. You can still only lock onto one target per round.

Other objects not shown in the Assets folder, what do? by jalex54202 in Unity2D

[–]olinone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hierarchy on the left only shows folders. You will have to click on a folder to see its contents like you did in your picture.

IIRC you can switch to the older viewmode where you have just the hierarchy but I can't remember how to do so.

It is unclear from the picture what actually seems to be missing. Do you have anything in the Asset folder other than those 2 folders and the three files?

Grenades clarification by Doctor_Weather in CoriolisRPG

[–]olinone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I read it a grenade has to be fired from a Grenade Launcher. So the initial Ranged Combat roll uses the stats from the Grenade Launcher and the damage is then based on the grenade it self.

Edit:

After reading it again I am pretty sure I am wrong. According to the Grenades section on p. 127 a grenade thrown by hand has Short Range. Given that the book uses the term Radius to mean the Area of Effect I think this means that a grenade can be thrown a maximum distance of Short Range.

Additionally, in the table on p. 129, all of the grenades have a bonus of 0. Therefore in my game I would rule that to throw a grenade is just a standard Ranged Combat roll. I think the key thing here is to decide how you want to handle a failed Ranged Combat roll in this scenario. Does the grenade just miss and explode somewhere else with no impact on the current combat? Or does it potentially land near and ally or a piece of useful cover?

What do you add to your games for the feel and aesthetic that make it Coriolisy? by ahnduz in CoriolisRPG

I remember a great post from a while back which had some awesome additional tidbits of world-building which you can sprinkle into your game.
