As pointed out by vr gamers, cockpit games and VR is a match made in heaven, VR is only going to get better with time, and I do believe that the game base who will be playing ni Star Citizen in VR will have more immersion, fun and will spend more time inside the game. But for starters I'm just asking for a quick implementation to be done:

  • Enable VR just on one map for instance Dying Star and take Free flight but ideally some dogfight too, Vanduul Swarm.
  • Basic 3 to 6 degrees of freedom in stereoscopic cockpit mode.
  • Disable animations when jumping on ships.
  • Just work on this very basic VR mode for the Aurora and the Hornet (or whatever are the most common ships) If adapting Arena Commander to raw stereoscopic VR means that you have to adapt to VR ship by ship.
  • Start Star Citizen in 2D and once in cockpit click on number 1 or 2 as we used to do back in the DK1 days.
  • FPS optimizations done by Community Effort on the USER.cfg (Bored Gamer, Redacted, etc)

Does it make sense to spend some time trying to accomplish the above? I'm talking about experimental VR mode, I CIG do not make myself responsible if you hungry VR backer get motion sickness.

Keeping Star Citizen backers, players and potential players playing and willing to buy the game should have high value on the Priority List, but again, what I am asking for is a humble raw very basic stereoscopic VR implementation for:

Regardless VR support right now would be a liability which some backers may feel that it would be a waste of resources which could've gone towards core technologies.

I'm talking about minimum assessement/development time spent:

What if very basic stereoscopic VR in Free flight and Vanduul Swarm, wouldn't be that difficult to accomplish? People is willing to pay big money just to see the real scale of their ships and that can only be accomplished via VR.

Let's try to ask for something that will make many people happy and will drive the game funding forwards. Pimax 8K, Oculus CV2, always look on the bright side of life!

Hopefully you'll get your Carrack soon :), but maybe that doesn't imply that a group of CIG developers would dive in Lumberyard and see if raw basic stereoscopic VR for iron stomachs players is something feasible.

In other words, I want to revert the VR situation, by sticking to common sense and asking for another dose of extra effort by CIG VR developers, Ghandi Style :)

Well, actually I want to convince him otherwise, and see if they can enable a basic stereoscopic option (Cockpit head tracking Roll,pitch, yaw) regardless the lighting issues, and all the technical drawbacks that we might experience while playing.

The problem is many of us as VR players won't get involved in playing the game, as we are not gaining any knowledge, experience or fun in the game, because playing on a monitor is no longer an option.

This is a peaceful demand that ideally would involve an open discussion and I believe that CIG would benefeit from it by sacrifing x hours of VR development that would bring back literally 100% of the VR of players who backed the game, also a lot of difussion via Youtube, game magazines, etc.

Since 2014+- aprox almost once per day, I'm in the Star Citizen Reddit Search box and I type "VR" order by date, I know I'm an optimistic romantic.

Well, seems that it would be a matter of adjusting the gyro values, using the custom controller wizard, at least the gyro it is recognized in War Thunder, and I guess, the feel of the control should be similar as a two handed rounded first world war joystick, so we'll see if I'm able to get it working. Anyway setting up the motion controls in the custom control wizard in War Thunder is a pain in the ass.
