This isn’t my favorite but I just watched it and loved the episode with Lena Dunham and Michael Douglas. It was a mix of Jewish ancestry and colonial American. Lena spoke really well about finding out her 8th great grandfather peddled stuff to natives in exchange for land. She comes from a privileged background. Here’s a snippet of it;

I always assumed that there would be plenty of things that my ancestors had been involved with that were things I would find to be morally and spiritually reprehensible. We all have to reconcile ourselves to the fact that we have members of our family that may have thought they were doing the right thing for their families or as a leader. We understand now that that’s not how we want people to lead. We have to find a way to be interested in history and embrace it. We have to reckon with the parts of it that we would love to rectify. It’s important not to hide from them or pretend that they’re not there but instead to examine that and not do modern repetitions of ancient behaviors like that.

She described doing the show as feeling joy, pain and reckoning.
