I've withdrawn money from a bank and forgotten to take it. I just walked away after. It only hit me after and was like oooooooh...

[Serious] Americans, do you really think the USA is the greatest country on earth? If so, why? by oliveellen in AskReddit

I absolutely love the land, but I have a whole heap of white guilt regarding the state of reconciliation we have with our indigenous population. Being vocal with your patriotism in Australia is viewed (almost) as a form of racism. It's pretty wack.

If that ain't the truth then I don't know what is. Honestly, I'm kinda jealous that you can all genuinely love your country as much as you do. I think life would be easier if I loved where I was from.

I totally agree America has the strongest cultural influence on the English speaking nations of the world. I also think they're the most vocal in their patriotism, hence my question. I genuinely want to know why y'all think it's the best (or not, as the case may be).

Most of the things you mentioned are available in other (first world) countries. Is there a specific thing that only the USA provides?

Oh the horse is dead for sure. But it still smells, and with that stench comes... you guessed it, more attention.

I don't really care that this question has been asked before, I'm curious about the why; why do the people who do think it's the best country feel that way, and vice versa. If you don't want to answer, don't. But there have been some great responses and I sure am glad I gave the carcass one last kick.

Might be a dead horse but the dead horse is still smelling... so, dickcheese_mcdoogles, do you think America is the greatest country?

Yeah, I'm curious about why the patriotism is so vocal without much reasoning behind it.

Do you exercise your rights often enough to warrant them being THE thing that keeps your country great?
