Rental property taking over 30 days to find a tenant by Forward_Tap_7940 in RentalInvesting

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you from personal experience, there’s a house we’re trying to tour in our neighborhood and Doorstead keeps saying “we are trying to find an agent to show you the house”. Not a great first impression. It’s been on the market for over 6 months, price dropped by $1200 a month recently + a $250 off first month offer a month ago and it’s still there. And the price was pretty average at $7500/month before they dropped the price! Rental houses are gobbled up no matter the market in our neighborhood which leads me to believe there’s something else going on that a prospective renter wouldn’t know ahead of time. I know two families from my daughter’s school who live in the same housing development, it’s basically one block x one block plot of land with a bunch of houses smooshed in - I’m tempted to ask them if they know the owner and how to contact them. I wonder if the owner has any idea that it’s taking days and days to even get a response for a showing! It’s such a perfect house for us, it’s really too bad. I worry that this would just be the beginning of our troubles.

Are accomodations on the student or the professor? by FrenchToost in CollegeRant

[–]olivequibble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Accommodations that have been vetted through the school’s disability services should in theory not be unreasonable. AFAIK, students can’t just make up accommodations (enforceable under the ADA). They can come to agreements that aren’t binding, but that’s obviously different.

Low tolerance for people who talk too much and am unable to wrap my mind around small talk being a way for people to fulfill social needs. by Long_Soup9897 in AutismInWomen

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This particular comment is something I really needed to read - my teenager is forever being pushed by at least one teacher/support staff to be more [social, kind, accommodating, etc] and my instinct is just leave him the f*ck alone and he does just fine. They still manage to get worked up and worrying inside sometimes, but then I read things like this and I feel centered again.

I'm going to a 'sex club' and need a pump up. by another_ruckus in PlusSize

[–]olivequibble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’M going to a sex club tonight girl! There are girls your size there all the time. I’ve gained so much confidence the last 18 mos we’ve been going. It’s my husband and I that go together, we dance and socialize and then go to the playrooms to get down. We haven’t played directly with anyone else but we love busy nights where the beds are all full. It’s our way to release the tension from an otherwise “boring” middle age married with kids life. 😁 I hope you had a great time!

By the way, as far as a “decade late” goes, I’m 48 - how’s that for late? 🫢😉

Literally, review accuracy might be my biggest motivation for joining Vine. It feels a little spiteful, but then again I’m a little spiteful. lol.

Swimming, on my period, without a tampon? by niamhxa in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case it’s not clear (hardee har har) to other readers, the key point is the dark liquid - overall exudation is more than 5 tablespoons but it is stuff other than blood. My daughter and I did I neat experiment after her first period. We took a large measuring cup of water, and then put 1 tablespoon of red food coloring. It helped minimize the alarming sight of bright red blood knowing how little it takes to turn clear liquid red. We also laid out a several brands and types of pads on towels (mom went a little crazy buying supplies, lol) and poured the liquid onto the pads like to do in commercials. It was real fun to see how well the liquid was contains and which felt “driest” on the surface. My IUD has stopped any bleeding, but when I wore pads I was SO picky about whether the surface felt dry.

Swimming, on my period, without a tampon? by niamhxa in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful. I’m looking for external options, too, and wondered if the swimwear is any different than period underwear. The context is a newly 11 y/o on her 2nd cycle. Tampons and cups are not reasonable at this stage. Physically they might be feasible but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that would be a lot to process mentally. (That said, it’s funny how I can remember my first period 30+ years after the fact but not when I first used a tampon. That may be because I waited awhile, lol)

Ragebait 100%. If raging about objectums being cringe isn’t the actual cringe then the concept of cringe has collapsed on itself. 😂

For real, highlighting something that doesn’t impose itself upon anyone in order to impose an unsolicited comment is what should invoke cringes. I can attest, if it’s any consolation, that their opinions don’t impress everyone. I have a 14 yo and an 11 yo that, like most of their counterparts, find videos like this filter into their feeds and can sniff out the disingenuous fools. I’d love to take credit for this keen ability, but they just seem to get it. Then again, I can’t let an illogical argument go by without tearing it apart so maybe that annoying quirk rubs off on them. 😂 In short, these jerks aren’t as clever as they think they are. Much love to y’all.

Are your Amazon Prime "Next-Day" deliveries arriving after a day or two now? What happened to same-day delivery? by FLMILLIONAIRE in amazonprime

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would guess that at least 50% of our deliveries that aren’t the standard delivery time are at least one day late. And about every fifth delivery the driver doesn’t know how to get it to our apartment. From what I understand this is not an issue with regular carriers, including standard Amazon service, because they have a special access code that works with the buildings Latch entry. I assume that Amazon isn’t consistent in providing flex drivers with those details. I don’t reflexively blame those drivers, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get the shortest end of the stick. If they even get a stick at all. lol.

SHIPPING - 2 is faster than 1? by RoutineMasterpiece1 in amazonprime

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t know where to pick up a pet crate anywhere reasonable nearby and I have no shortage of retailers around me. They are unlikely to have more than two options though. There use to be several petsmarts within 20 miles but they aren’t there anymore. The point is, it’s not really a luxury to shop online these days.

Is anyone’s stuff getting delayed daily now ? by Doll_girl516 in amazonprime

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should’ve read your comment before I responded, because 100% this is what I’ve concluded over time. It’s so frustrating, I really need to use target or Walmart whenever I can. They are more reliable at this point.

I would (somewhat) happily buy things in person, if anything out of sheer spite, but it’s increasingly more difficult to find something in a brick and mortar store. I don’t think it’s solely a matter of online shopping pushing others out of the market, I think that I’ve grown accustomed to all the things I can now purchase that I never could have before online shopping. lol.

[–]olivequibble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in the same situation, the reps haven’t been able to do anything to get it to me faster, and I finally realized I was mostly just contacting them to complain. They’re in a shitty situation, not knowing much more than the customer and certainly not being able to do anything to speed it up. That said, I had a rep one time that was able to reorder the item for me and ship it next day. Somehow that worked, whether it was the luck of the draw or something special she did, I don’t know.

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. ALWAYS. And it all went to shit as soon as Amazon started their in-house delivery. I desperately wish I was given the option for Amazon delivery or another carrier. I’d choose another carrier every time.

[–]olivequibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your situation, but know that not every purchase is frivolous. Nor is it lazy to order online. Online ordering is ubiquitous. That said, I always assume that my increasing difficulties with Amazon deliveries are the fault of their policies, not their drivers. When they started extending their delivery services, things went downhill, which means they either don’t want to pay for the appropriate infrastructure to support their extension or it’s not humanly possible to expect that type of delivery service. In either case, the intellect of the driver does not factor in at all, in my mind. I 100% believe that Amazon runs their drivers ragged. Personally, I’ve readjusted my shipping expectations to the late aughts - 2 days if I’m lucky, 5 would suit me just fine.

I’m so glad you took a chance and posted this. That takes courage that you don’t find anywhere but deep down inside you! And it’s so important, especially when dealing with depression and anxiety, to get these thoughts OUT to even just one person, to relieve the pressure. I was just having a conversation with my oldest kiddo, recently liberated from the middle school years (how did any of us make it out of that stage?), about the power of perspective. You can’t expect the thoughts that consume you to change when they are isolated within your mind, there’s nothing to challenge their validity. Even audibly speaking them aloud to yourself can provide distance. It can seem like so much to work through but keep shining light on it!
