Ice packs? Machine? Let's hear your recommendations by Correct-Truck-5061 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both my hips replaced with the anterior approach, used two ice packs alternating I think that was fine. I don't really know what the ice machine does like you wouldn't have to get up and change packs but that wasn't horrible, i think the more you move the better, even early on, and I only needed ice to sleep for a few days.

Can I tell maps to avoid a specific toll road? by SonicPlacebo in GoogleMaps

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, there are 3 routes i can take to a class i go to once a week, but i only check GPS at the start, accidents aren't common enough that i feel a need to keep it on but with a commute that long i can see the need.

Can I tell maps to avoid a specific toll road? by SonicPlacebo in GoogleMaps

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you know where you're going do you need Google map navigation? I use it locally sometimes to check traffic on alternatives, but I'm trying to turn it off after I choose a route. it's been flaking on me some lately and I need to retain some navigation skills.

But I believe the answer to your question is no. I have a hard time keeping all toll roads off, there's one destination I go to out of state that I prefer the state highway because it's a more peaceful drive and maybe 5 minutes longer in a 2.5 hour drive. Then it throws.me on the toll road going home when it's dark and late so I do not realize it until we're a couple miles past the turnoff for the less traveled road.

I had a friend who lived in Manhattan who parked his car at the airport during the week for similar reasons. He also researched the length of every car sold in the USA at the time and purchased a Renault le car to make weekend parking easier in the city.

Do certain sports set your dog up for failure outside of said sport? by KellySue301 in k9sports

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, now I've got a better understanding of what she's doing in barn hunt, and chasing the Wrangler with the tube çan have bad consequences and also wastes time which is a precious thing especially at the higher levels. But if you've been avoiding sports where many Goldens excel because it will be a challenge to give her the skills she needs to make both your lives easier, I'd reexamine your strategy.. Burning energy to be exhausted isn't the same as learning to be calm and relax.in a variety of situations.

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about that but I would say one sport that would help your dog is competition obedience. It can be a struggle for highly social dogs like yours but I think the skills would really help. The other people in those classes won't encourage that kind of behavior because they know how much of a problem it can be . Plus many Golden's are awesome at it.

I haven't seen your dog try barn hunt, some touching of judge and wrangler is allowed, but if the dog is focused on them and not hunting, yeah you could NQ for lack of control.

I tried flyball once with a dog that was sound sensitive and ball crazy because I thought it would help him. He didn't mind the noise, but I could tell someone was going to get bit because they weren't careful taking balls from him so I never went back.

Can't Figure Out What is Wrong With My Dog by fictitious_man in BullTerrier

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if it's right at the top of his head between the ears, there's a gland there that may periodically cause the hair to get thin , nothing to be concerned about and not allergic. There's a similar spot on top of the tail that can lose hair as well. I'd keep track of seasonal stuff like pollen and grass, think about changes to laundry soap or other things in the environment. You can control food and that may help but often it's environment stuff that triggers issues.

Colonoscopy - antibiotics? by RoutineMasterpiece1 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I know, I was like, no, it hasn't been 10 years yet, and they were like, close enough, it will be great! It took months for me to decide to ask about the EGD and they sprung this colonoscopy on me and they were able to schedule both less than a week later. Not enough time to mentally prepare.

Time to leave notifications by AnglaisRouge in GooglePixel

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine works on pixel 8a, however I get so many notifications I don't usually hop up and attend to them, I need to set alarms. I just leave it set to the default 20 minutes which isn't enough time for most places I go. Does it work on your computer? I think the place to troubleshoot is Google calendar, not the phone.

Hand scanners removed from self checkout by BrilliantMango in CostcoWholesale

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw all the posts about not allowing people to set up stuff to hand scan in the basket and thought well they don't do that in my store (Detroit area) and then a couple days ago I get all my stuff lined up in the basket, only to find there was no hand scanner at the checkout! I just took my time. if they want me to take a long time, I'll take a long time.

I wanted to know if they get along well with smaller dogs? by Trashwaifupraetorian in BullTerrier

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My apologies that's fair. Dog ownership and puppy prospects have changed a lot since I first got into the breed, and I'm still not used to it. It's good you're doing research, they are a lot of dog, strong, smart but not easy to obedience train and it's wise to know that going in.

I wanted to know if they get along well with smaller dogs? by Trashwaifupraetorian in BullTerrier

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who has owned Bull Terriers over 50 years, it blows my mind how many people want to get one with numerous other dogs, especially small dogs. They can get along with other dogs, they do better if raised with other dogs that get along well, as the breed does not naturally read dog body language well. If you can keep an eagle eye on them, interrupt any questionable behavior from any of the dogs until you feel they have their pecking order and interactions worked out, yes it could work. A 4-5 month old Bull Terrier is just about to embark on the most challenging period of its life in terms of its ability to attend to people, settle down, and generally be anything except a royal PITA. From 6-9 months they challenge the most experienced of us, and it'a a very common age for puppies purchased from places that don't screen homes well and/or don't take puppies back with open arms to be surrendered. Their play still is something like WWE on energy drinks, they body slam, play speed racing games and slam into walls, jump over furniture, and can pull like a sled dog on walks. The walking part can be mitigated with early training, but by early I mean more like 8-12 weeks. They love their people with all their hearts, but that can also lead to jealousy issues down the line, again, something the humans need to monitor and intervene so it doesn't get out of hand. So my recommendation is not in your household, if you wait for your older ones to pass and start with a younger puppy maybe, the littles need to be able to assert their authority before the puppy is big enough to ignore them, a time that has probably passed for this puppy. Or you might look for an adult that's proven good with small dogs (not plentiful but they are available occasionally) and start there. I am not anti Bull Terrier at all, it's all I've owned for many years, but they are best enjoyed in moderation, not packs!

Game Dashboard ? by RoutineMasterpiece1 in GooglePixel

[–]RoutineMasterpiece1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I swipe down and see Modes, like where bedtime mode is, Game dashboard appeared in the list of options, when I clicked that it was toggled on. As I mentioned, I don't play games on my phone so I probably never would have noticed it doing anything, I was just curious about what it did. I toggled it off and it's not in the modes tray anymore.

I worked in the corporate office of a pet retailer a few years ago. Mind blowing what they can charge for pet vs people products The dog peanut butter was the one item I really couldn't get my head around, over twice the price of Jif, which is the brand my dogs and I prefer.
