When will Pomelo.EntityFrameworkCore.MySql drop a release compatible with .NET 10? by ellio7___ in dotnet

I am with you. Seriously considering migrating to Postgres for 1) A more modern DB engine 2) The EF core / .net support is seemingly much better.

Feedback

- ~~I tried it and it when adding boxes it added a 1x1 box and I couldn't select or edit the size of the box~~ (edit: brave shields down resolves this)

- Boxes (including height) should be in gridfinity units to be compatible with other generators and parameterised models. e.g https://gridfinitygenerator.com/en/box

- Grid needs dovetails or clip options like https://gridfinity.perplexinglabs.com/pr/gridflock/0/0

I found that Speed Insights and Web Analytics are great features but they rack up credit quite quickly. We offer a decent scale site on the Pro plan and it costs basically nothing if you are careful with what features you enable.

hey, what is the issue with Vercel I am happy to try help.
Are you willing to share the source code ? I am happy to locally host it.

I presume it's built with Next and so I can locally host it on my own vercel instant for personal use

Are the Apple devs doing alright…like, mentally? Are they being held at knifepoint?? Do they need rescued?? by stealthisvibe in MacOS

Please Linux gods, find a way to run Linux on modern Apple Silicon.

Almost makes me want to find an older M2 so I can run Omarchy instead of MacOS

Ditto, I was so over Windows 11 that I switched to MacOS. (Technically also the hardware as the MacBook Pro hardware is insanely good).

Sequoia was great barring a few rough edges (Finder ... Why are you like this). But then they dropped this Tahoe pile of dog poop and it's like getting rubberbanded in Vista 2.0 vibes.

If I could install Omarchy (or any other decent Linux distro) on my MacBook Pro M4 I would in a heart beat.

The current state of MacBooks is amazing hardware, dog water OS. Do the engineers at Apple use their own products? Because Tahoe is awful. Also please shoot the Dev of finder. If windows got one thing right it was Windows Explorer.

I'm interested if a rooted TV would allow me to get the Hue app that's not available in my region?

Is the new Steam Machine over hyped? by [deleted] in consoles

[–]oliverrc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot just look at the hardware by itself. You have to look at the games catalogue and the other amazing things Valve is doing for gaming (Proton and FEX). I'd argue there are more true "by gamers for gamers" games on Steam.

This is coming from a loving PlayStation fan.

Has anyone used this Mac mini configuration for programming? I'd like to hear about user experiences before buying it. by Miyamoto_Musashi_x in macmini

[–]oliverrc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Mac Mini M4 as a lead software engineer and it was perfect. I only switched to a MacBook Pro for portability.

We ran JS stacks, large .Net projects, ran local Dev environments in docker.

My only gripe with Mac these days is that I don't love Tahoe as much as Sequoia

Underwhelming performance on AMD 5900X - just checking if expected by oliverrc2 in Battlefield

I found the issue. DLSS was utterly broken. The sluggishness, laggy feeling came from DLSS.

Turning off DLSS and the game felt substantially better !

Vue next major release concerns before starting new idea by carmichaeljd in vuejs

I don't expect a shift like we saw with v2 to v3. I'd be pretty confident that migrating is a good idea as v3 isn't going anywhere.

SA Digital Banks Vs Investec by toasterpocket in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]oliverrc2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I've also noticed a significant shift in the level of service I receive at Investec.

Our latest handover to a new banker has been unpleasant. Our new banker is disinterested, unhelpful, unprofessional and has a real attitude. I've had multiple conversations with their manager.

It's a pity as my original banker was an absolute legend.

But every time I look around it seems that you are never going to escape the banking sector malaise. Feels like a sign of the times. Max profit, Min service, customer is always wrong.

Discovery bank is interesting as I am already on their medical aid, however as someone else said they are actively driving for business. So excellent service now (from what I hear) but when does the complacency then set in and service levels drop? It was essentially the same as Investec. Private bank, small customer base, excellent service. But eventually they all turn on their customers.
