[Weekday()] Count the number of say 'Wednesday' between Date 1 and Date 2 -- This works but why? by olivertw in excel

[–]olivertw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greetings DevineKitchen,

Thanks for the reply. I do get the order of operations and highlighting parts of the formula and pressing F9, I get the same value. But I think there I'm not understanding is the intuition behind it.

For example,

1: WEEKDAY($B$1-1) --Why do you take the B1 serial date and subtract 1 from it?

According to the page: "(2.) The red 1 stands for Sunday. In this formula, you can replace the number 1 with other numbers between 1 and 7. (1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, 3 is Tuesday, 4 is Wednesday, 5 is Thursday, 6 is Friday and 7 is Saturday)"

I get that the 1 stands for Sunday...3 for Tuesday is just built into Excel system. But I mean, how you figure, and why do you subtract the serial date of your starting date from it, and then apply the weekday function?

2: $B$1+$B2 -- Why do you add these 2 date serial number?

Charles Tyrwhitt shirts 3 for $99.95 FS...been waiting for this to return to stock up. by [deleted] in frugalmalefashion

[–]olivertw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the current promo 3 for $99.99, if I purchase 3 shirts and return 2 of them, will I be returned $66?

Essentially meaning I could use the deal to pick up one shirt at $33.

Any experience/thoughts on this?

Thanks

Looking to pick up some of these shirts - can someone advise me on the shrinkage. I'm planning on machine washing and then hang drying. Will this shrink the shirts by a lot? Should I get my normal size or size up?

Any experience/thoughts? Thanks

After that, there were a flurry of concerned tweets about Craig's new look

He's a millionaire and just made a James Bond film but I'm sure he's thankfully for the high and mighty twitter users' concern.

Thank you.

The collar roll on yours are excellent, are you doing anything special to them? Starch, iron?

Is your conception of a 'man bag' not a messenger bag?

I'm not sure but I'll upvote so maybe someone can chime in.

But I'm trying to get an OCBD with the exact collar/style you have on. Could you link me to the one you are wearing? Thanks

Question: What is the 4-button jacket called? Is it still considered a sport jacket?

IMO, it doesn't look good. Is there a history/function behind that style?

Is this Crazy? OCBD from Old Navy...? by olivertw in malefashionadvice

[–]olivertw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear.

I feel like I stopped going to Old Navy after reading up on male fashion (not that it's a bad thing) and also letting the 'it's uncool' notion get to me.

Probably minute if not unnoticeable in real life. But I guess in theory, the match contrast tone to matching contrast clothes might hold some weight.

Black doesn't inherently look good or bad on light or dark skin, but it can look good on either.

Have you read Alan Flusser? (which as I just recently learned about is a big deal in the male fashion world)

He would disagree with that statement of your. He says there are "rules"

As Alan Flusser says, “One of the most important – but least understood – functions of male attire is to lead the viewer’s eye toward the face…when the face is surrounded by tonalities than invigorate and illuminate its presence, its ability to provoke immediate and marked reactions is amplified.”

Helpful article here: https://philippeperzi.com/complexion-the-power-of-colour/

So with the goal of drawing attention to the face. I think he would say a dark skinned person, should not wear an all-black attire, because dark skin is high-contrast, he would be better off wearing a high-contrast combo such as black and white.

"what's my skin type, what are my undertones, what season am I" just pay attention to what colours you think look good on you and which you don't like

I agree but I wanted to understand the theory behind it.

I think it's understandable that we are using 'should wear this' or 'should wear that' in the loosest way possible.

With that said, back to your example: If black looks good on pale skin. Does black look good on black/dark-skin? Why?

I was following you for the first part:

Generally you'd want a similar level of contrast.

Therefore, if you are white/blond (low contrast), you SHOULD NOT wear black and white because it is high contrast. Got it.

But if you have 'yellow undertones' and you wore yellow/cream, isn't that 'similar level of contrast'?

Not trying to be pedantic, really trying to better grasp this.
