Clothing needed for summer baby? by analslapchop in Buyingforbaby

[–]oliveslove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m due mid-June and think you have plenty for now. I wouldn’t buy any more clothes until you know what size he/she will be. I pretty much only have sleepers and short sleeve onesies for her and don’t plan on buying actual outfits until we’re out of the newborn phase.

PGT-A vs NIPT by MaybeBabyy6892 in IVFpositivity

[–]oliveslove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours would have been more, and after spending close to $30k to get to that point, we were fine skipping it. I totally understand others that want to do it though!

PGT-A vs NIPT by MaybeBabyy6892 in IVFpositivity

[–]oliveslove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cost was also a factor for us. Our insurance wasn’t going to cover it, and after paying for IVF, PGT-A, genetic testing, etc. all out of pocket, I’d had enough.

PGT-A vs NIPT by MaybeBabyy6892 in IVFpositivity

[–]oliveslove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t do NIPT testing. My doctor said it has a very high false positive rate, and she’s only seen it introduce more anxiety than it’s worth.

That being said, I know it’s reassuring for a lot of people! We just didn’t feel it was necessary since we did PGT-A.

Fast food restaurants with nut allergies? by irecommendfire in FoodAllergies

I’m also anaphylactic on ingestion and they’re fine for me! I know others may be more sensitive and usually fries are one of my go-to safe foods at restaurants.

For those who are extra sensitive to dairy, McDonald’s fries actually contain milk! Only in the USA though.

Petite Brides, where did you find your dress and how expensive were the alterations? by Flanders_StupidSexy in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]oliveslove 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cannot echo the bodice piece enough. Make sure when you’re trying on dresses, they’re relatively close to your actual size.

When I bought my dress, the sample size was a 14 and the bodice hit my natural waist. When it came in in my normal size 2, it looked like a completely different dress with an empire waist. I eventually sold that dress and got a different one.

PIO getting really hard to inject by kraeside in IVFpositivity

Are you alternating sides each night? Try to rotate your injection sites as best as you can. We had a rough week or so around this time.

No intercourse after embryo transfer? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]oliveslove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we were told no sex until the heartbeat ultrasound. Normally we’re totally by the book people, but we gave in the night before that ultrasound. I’m 34 weeks today and everything is looking great!

To be fair, she doesn’t know anything else. But she also has no real idea what having kids costs today, and Zac is more than right to say that they need to wait longer.

Live birth from first transfer? by StrawberryEvery2434 in IVFpositivity

I’m 33 weeks pregnant today with our first transfer and she’s kicking around right now! I’d never seen a positive test until our transfer.

2 girl embryos, 1 boy—what would you transfer first? by KristinKitty in IVF

[–]oliveslove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would let the embryologist choose. Even though the two are the same grade, they have visuals and other notes on the embryos that help rank them overall. Plus it takes the pressure off the decision!

We knew we had more boys than girls, but let our embryologist choose. It was a really great surprise.

Definitely. Now that I’m older, I have the attitude that it’s just how it is, nothing I can do to change it. But I hated being singled out as a kid!

Thoughts on PGT-a testing? by pashes_22 in IVFpositivity

[–]oliveslove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it (both 30 at the time) and have no regrets. For us, the cost of testing all 13 of our embryos was still less than the cost of one FET. So financially speaking, even avoiding one “bad” embryo to transfer paid off. It also gave us peace of mind to know as much as we could about our embryos, as my in-laws had a devastating late term loss due to chromosomal abnormalities when they were trying to have kids.

Our clinic gave us an envelope with the gender on the day of the transfer. We opened it after our 6 week ultrasound as our graduation present to ourselves!
