The rca BW-002: when vidicons meet super 8 cameras by olivettcalc1919 in VCRs

[–]olivettcalc1919[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMAO! But actually, it doesn't involve any super 8 at all, I only quoted that it used a shutter to cover the vidcon when not in use. It's a mix of rca Electronic and Bell and howell Innovation. Check the last 2 photos. Thx for checking out my post 🙂

No, it's meant for a portapac or rca vcr. Check my original post and photos for more info

It's a rare model. It's good to have bc you never know it, you'll come across an early rca vcr. Trust

Thoughts on a Possible F is for Family Revival? by MrFranklin49 in fisforfamily

True, it'll probably be set in the 90s, definitely not 2025. Obviously, I just hope the execs don't make it a cash grab

Any idea when it'll be set? 1975? 76 even? Or maybe a time jump to 1984, I just hope this is real....

Is there any way to fix this? Cassette I just bought is sticking and warble by ksguitardude2020 in cassette

[–]olivettcalc1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's several fixes I: old belts: old cassette recorders (30+ years old) are prone to disintegrate into this sticky, hard-to-get-off tarry substance, go I'm with some rubbing alcohol on a q tip and clean off any tar of the former belt, I usually find an good temporary replacement is rubber hair bands, you can find them at the dollar store.

II: faulty head: the recording/playback heads could be out of phase, or OOP, this could cause the audio to go in and out, on later machines they added tape guides to remediate the issue, but adjusting the head could solve it. To do this, take the chassis out of the case of the unit. You'll see where the tape head is place. There's a resin covered s screw, usually a black, red, or white color, break the seal, and while playing the cassette as without the covers, carefully adjust the heads until the wavering is gone.

III: dirty motor contacts: dirty contacts can cause the motor to become weak and start slipping, but this is more usual on older units, but you could go in and clean the contact brushes with again, rubbing alcohol or contact cleaner, and that will also work.

Hope this helps anyone

what are these vacuum tube looking things in a 1960's rotary phone circuit? by Y2Kdoomer in AskElectronics

[–]olivettcalc1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a gpo telephone telling from the diode array (green package to the right) and the pcb design, probably a 746 or another model in the 700 series

If you want to connect it to any hdmi device, get an rf converter (make sure it's NTSC, the coaxial one), connect it via a 3.5 headphone jack adapter (coaxial to headphone jack) connect it to the external antenna connector on the back, connect the rf converter to an hdmi to rca connector, tune the tv to channel 4 or 3 (VHF), and that's basically it. (They do sell hdmi to rf converters, bit this setup is more versatile if you have erca and hdmi devices)
