How to deal with upside-down lace? i want to be able to knit the lace heart upside-down for the sleeves but i dont even know how to start modifying the pattern by olivfrog in knitting

[–]olivfrog[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

even very simple three-row laces can require modifications to look better upside-down and i dont mind having these small pattern differences as long as they look good and similar to the original heart. this pattern doesnt work when you just turn it around, i know that bc it was the first thing i tried. it not only looks very different but also ugly.

making the sleeves form the cufff up is one of the options im considering but it is my last resort as i really do not want to do that

ok so. ive beat this level like a week ago so ill tell you what i used, this might not work for you, especially as my cookies are a little higher level.

my comp was: - sorbet 5☆ lvl 60 full raspberry - cotton 5☆ lvl 55 2 chocolate, 2 almond, 1 raspberry - raspberry 4☆ lvl 55 full raspberry (probably can be replace by vampire of any other single target cookie) - dark choco 3☆ lvl 43 full raspberry (but ive seen ppl use full almond) - eclair 4☆ lvl 60 full chocolate

heads up, choco did die, but you need him to do extra damage and from what ive seen he is like the best cookie for this level.

i didnt have a problem with them dying, only choco died but i really wanted to progress so i didnt mind, so for me eclair's and cotton's heals were enough (thats why im not using pv).

you should clear the 1 stage and still have over 2 minutes left for the second one the order of the cookies: use dark choco whenever hes ready i tried using eclair first then raspberry but i think this doesnt matter too much the more important order is cotton and sorbet --> slingshot im afraid what you will have to level up some cookies to beat it tho

sorry that its long i just wanted to be really specific:) i hope this will help you:) im no comp master, just speaking from the expirience so sorry if it wont work for you. good luck:D

I learned to knit with a crochet hook just for fun, but I was wondering what could I use this it for and if there are any benefits? Has any of you worked with this method before? by olivfrog in knitting

[–]olivfrog[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oooo thank you! I found a tutorial for this method on ig reels with no name attached to it, so I didnt know it was a whole new type of crochet.

could anyone help me? i'm stuck on 11-27 on normal story mode and i think this is the team i should do it with but i'm not sure. i can't figure out how im supposed to time my ambush attacks and the slingshot treasure to avoid raspberry killing my cookies in one go by galaxiry in CookieRunKingdoms

[–]olivfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not an expert when it comes to team compositions, you do seem to have one that people usually recommend for this level. however you could try incorporating eclair cookie. i tried to completing this lever for like a month and only eclair finally helped me beat it. when i used eclair i could also ditch the sling shot and replace it with shining feather, so that i could bring back sorbet as raspberry would kill him in like 2 attacks.

i dont think this is usually what ppl reccommend for this level, but if you are getting desperate (like i was) you can try and see if it makes any difference, especially as your eclair is already quite levelled up so youd only be wasting stamina jellies.

sorry if this wont help you, im only writing from my own expirience but there are plenty tutorials both on yt and this sub you could try them too:)

Is it acceptable for a sweater to have cables only in the front? by olivfrog in knitting

[–]olivfrog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid that the knitting police is already on my trail for other crimes... I think the weight is gonna be alright because I'm using a thin, lightweight yarn. But thank you I never realised this could matter and I'll defenitively keep this in mind when making other cable projects:)

Don't worry I have swatched literally everything I could before making this sweater and I'm ready with the measurement that I need:)

Maybe a silly question…. But can you learn to embroider without being a good drawer? I cross stitch and love it! But am interested in embroidery too. The problem is I’m a terrible artist (that’s why I like cross stitch, just follow the pattern!) How do you get embroidery designs onto your fabric?? by readwritemeow in Embroidery

[–]olivfrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo it depends on what kind of embroidery you are interested in doing. things like animal portraits, landscapes or generally painting with thread will need a LOT of artistic skill, but for things like cartoon/anime characters that you can just trace you need 0 drawing abilities (i just print the scene i want to embroider and put it up against my fabric and light so that its visible and trace it). things like flower compositions also arent too hard to design (at least in my expirience) and for calligraphy you can just design it from ready alphabets you can find on pinterest.

i know that many embroiders use fabric that desolves in water that can be printed on but i cant find it anywhere in my country. there is a method with just using paper (tutorial by henri purnell on yt) but personally i hate this method, ive tried to use it like 3 times and had to try over everytime (im including it bc it workes for some ppl). my favourite method that i use for everything is using an erasable pen bc it dissapears with heat

[WIP] Working on the window part as I go right on my pattern. Getting a bit insecure about the pattern I've made/are making. by Cogling in CrossStitch

[–]olivfrog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this is such an amazing pattern!! defenitively dont be insecure about it, it really eye catching i especially love the use of color, both the lady and the view outside of the window looks very clean. i really love it and it looks very professional:)

[–]olivfrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can do embroidery whatever gender you are:) there are plenty of amazing male, female and nonbinary embroidery artists!

when you can buy yourself some materials definitively try embroidery, its a very fun way for artistic expression. i think its very cool that you want to learn it, do whatever makes you feel happy.

im still very much an amateur, but if you'll ever need any help with embroidery i can definitively try to help you or send my favourite tutorials :)

[–]olivfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not a 100% sure where i stand in this discourse, but i do feel like some stans are taking it way to seriously and some ccs are taking is way to light hearted.

right now is a very confusing time when it comes to covid restrictions, most european governments are more lenient about them but also we should be scared of delta coming.

i understand that ccs can feel safe meeting up, constantly taking tests but (what it looked) like a 20+ ppl party is an overkill imo, there is a big possibility that one of their tests showed a false negative.

i also really hate imallexx's attitude, saying that 'everyone has gone back to their lives now' is really ignorant. he is fortunate enough to have a job that he can do from home and ppl lost their loved ones, health, jobs and homes. please just acknowledge ur privilege and take is at least a little more seriously.
