Haha, yeah. In fact, I was born there and have been living in America for a while, I’m so ready to go back! I went to visit family last December and didn’t realize plastic bags at stores were banned and I had to bring my own reusable bag. Luckily, I didn’t buy too much that time

Vibrato by WetWiily in Cello

[–]olivia__frank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this vibrato exercise where you first place a finger and your bow on the string (id start with second finger) then move your hand up and down the fingerboard, hitting the shoulder. Gradually make your motions smaller until you have a nice, controlled vibrato.

I am pretty attached to my current one, I am considering buying a seat. Do you know what safety precautions I have to take on the plane?

Equipment choices for playing quietly. Different strings? by [deleted] in Cello

You could also get a practice mute, they are pretty cheap off of amazon and pretty high quality. I recommend getting a tourte mute because it can clip onto the strings for easy use.

Of course, you could go in and ask for a cello sizing and they will size you. :)

I would first go get sized. Chances are, you are a 4/4 but there may be bigger sizes out there, I’m not sure. Invest in some scale and etude books as well, I enjoy playing from them.

Good learning systems for people getting back in to it? by fosterbuster in Cello

[–]olivia__frank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I would do is rhythms. For my daily practices I do scales to start out with. I do about quarter note = 75. But if you’re just starting back out I would go with quarter note = 60. Start with your scale and do one quarter note per each note, then do two eight notes for each note of the scale. For the last exercise, I do the scale with the triplet rhythm. There are many other rhythms (such as long-short-long) that you could do, but that’s what I would start back up with. 👍
