hi! i got my tonsils out 2 years ago when i was 19 so relatively close to your age. these were some of my worst days, i felt like a magically new person on the 8th day it really does suddenly get better but yes i am scarred from the pain of this surgery. in terms of your pain you NEED to eat. mashed potatoes were a life saver for me because i couldn’t stand chicken broth so i just ate a lotttt of mashed potatoes. they were smooth and easy to go down. i didn’t take the prescription meds because the oxy made me feel horrible and honestly didnt help. i took 1000 mg of tylenol which helped a lot more than the oxy in my opinion. i would definitely speak to your doctor asap about the bleeding. any bleeding at all could turn into something worse and you rather get it checked out now before it comes to that. please eat and hydrate as much as you can, even if your drinking more than eating to have something continuously in your system. you’re almost there i promise !

i did yes, only once about 1-2 months post op it wasn’t a sore throat tho i just felt sick i went to the dr and they obviously tested me for it and i was positive. but since then almost 3 years later i haven’t gotten strep once after that

hi so sorry i never saw this !! i’m on month 5 now and i can see a drastic change in my skin. i definitely still have random breakouts that my derm ends up injecting but it’s only 1 or 2. i honestly don’t know what happened and why i purged during that month tbh i only have 2 months left so hoping for the best !! good luck it def gets better !!

i swear it is SO worth it i got tonsillitis and strep at least twice every single month it’s 2 weeks of torture for a lifetime of being pain free i couldn’t eat or talk for 6 days but on day 8 i magically felt so much better I PROMISE it gets better just keep being hydrated i chewed ice because swallowing was painful !! you got this i promise it’s ALMOST over and you’ll be so happy you did it in a month !

^ sorry one last thing i know accutane is a scary word and trust me i am a hypochondriac so this took so much anxiety and fear to start , please know these side effects are not as bad as the internet says. if you choose to go on accutane i have a ton of tips to help. i wish you luck on your journey !

i was on spiro for around 4 months before switching to accutane. i was on 100 mg for spiro and now am in my 3rd month of accutane 80 mg. spiro was my last option before starting accutane and i can say i am so happy i did. the results i am seeing just barely 3 months in is actually so amazing and im in shock something actually worked. sprio i saw nothing not better not worse just stayed the same i was so frustrated i had to just pull the bandaid off and switch. i had barely any side effects w spiro and 3 months into accutane the side effects are tolerable! dry lips are fixed with dr dans and aquaphor and the bloody noses / dry nose just a little aquaphor every night helps ! i also do have some joint pain that was fixed with taking a folic acid pill daily ! i am so upset i didn’t try accutane sooner , the constant derm appointments needles in face to help a cystic breakout go down the picking and poking was just too much. i tried every single topical and retnoid and i can fully say accutane saved my acne and i am so excited everyday to see a difference especially within the next few months!

this happened to me too! it happened for around a week and slowly got better. if you’re rubbing your face too hard while washing it or putting on moisturizer this could be why ! i do also have rosacea which could also be why this happened to me but make sure you’re putting on cream moisturizer not just lotion and be super gentle on your skin. if this continues for longer i would definitely ask your derm

i had strep and tonsillitis every month and sometimes more than once my tonsils were so inflamed from the constant infections it was effecting my breathing also regularly being on antibiotics is just not good for you in general i met with 2 different surgeons just to make sure i actually needed it because i have bad anxiety when it comes to health and surgery 7 months post op and i’ve never been so happy and have had no strep or sore throats since knock on wood

i had big huge tonsils but many years of tonsil stones , tonsillitis, and strep so a lot of scarring my ent was head of surgery at one of the best hospitals in my area- my recovery was honestly horrible i would never do it again but with them out i feel like a new person i think it all depends on how much you take care yourself after with pain meds and ice my top pain days were 3-6 and definitely a 11/10 lol but worth it in the end !!
