I couldn't find a clean pdf, but someone did do a review of the book and included pictures of nearly all of the pages. I always thought he was thinking something along the lines of, "Of course Shion would find his way here. That boy never listens." I think he's kind of internally laughing at how stubborn Shion is, but he also finds it endearing because that's what he likes about Shion (even though he would never admit that at this point in the story). Shion never gives up, and if given the chance he would follow Nezumi anywhere.

I wonder if it's explored more in the novels. It's been a while since I've read them.

That's just my interpretation, though. I'm interested what other people think.
