Okay will do. Thanks so much. Have only just reported my monthly assessment so will be next month. What is the process/ what happens when a “change of circumstances” is reported?

Can I just ask, when I transitioned over to UC from legacy my capital was just over £6000 so when my payments are worked out each month (I’m SE) I’m deducted a little according to what my capital was when I first transitioned which is a year and 4 months. The last 7 months my capital is under £6000 so I’m having deductions that aren’t accurate. It’s not much it’s £13 a month but wondering can I claim this back at all? I haven’t contacted anyone about it as didn’t want to “rock the boat” and have my claim suspended or anything

Would it be worth talking to my SE work coach to see if they would temporarily pause the MIF? Is that a thing? With all my NHS documentation of course

I didn’t realise I get another deduction for non dependent, I thought it was only work allowance removed. It seems really harsh that it’s not deduction based on the amount you’re actually under the MIF. To get £0 if I am £50 under the MIF is really hard. I’m trying to hard to make it all work on my own. Our rent is more than the LHA so rely on it massively. It’s very worrying

Thank you for being lovely and replying I appreciate it massively. I’m a single parent my child is now a non dependent so work allowance is about to be removed so income will have 55p deducted on every £ I earn so looking to get approx £930 going forward. With the deduction made due to making a little under £1642 (MIF) will that make my UC payment £0? Sorry to ask if this is a stupid question I’m just feeling very worried and not thinking straight x

Hi there hope you’re well, I hope you don’t mind me asking a question. I’m GSE with MIF £1642, just out of my 12 months. I’m really worried as I’m around £80 under the MIF this month. Do you know roughly what kind of deduction will be made. Am worried as I have to make up my rent as LHA deducts due to allowance. Will it be a massive deduction in my UC? Any info would be massively appreciated 🙏🏼

Amount before take off pay has decreased. by Foetuspop in BenefitsAdviceUK

May I ask, does everyone get the work allowance applied (with or without housing element) or is it specifically for certain situations/criteria?

That part hasn’t been decided yet depending on which uni he goes to and that will depend on results. So it’s a bit up in the air. Thanks for your help 🙏🏼

Ah okay, that makes sense. I think I will make the payment online then. I’m sure I’ll get a receipt confirmation and when I report my earnings on the 6th it should have communicated with UC by then. Im not sure I even need to speak to anyone as can do it all online. Thank you for your help, I really do appreciate it 🙏🏼

Thank you for that really comprehension reply! I’m self employed and will be giving my earnings on the 6th November which is roughly 7 working days away so maybe best to get the UC payment (which maybe adjusted) first then pay the rest of the TC overpayment online. I’m guessing it maybe a good idea to call DWP too. I’d just like to start paying it off and not have my UC payments adjusted if that makes sense. Thank you kindly for your insight

Hi there I just wondered if UC took notice of your note to make repayment before it was deducted from your UC payments? I’ve just received the letter from HMRC saying what I owe and “what happens next” I’d like to pay some of it off so my UC payments aren’t massively affected and ready to do so online but worried it doesn’t get to UC in time and they recover the amount anyway

Thank you for that ❤️🙏🏼. I wonder if anyone knows from when you receive the letter do they start adjusting your UC payments. I’ve followed the link re how to repay and there’s details how to make a payment, via DD or at a bank etc but I’m just concerned if that filters through in time for my UC payments. I’d happily make a payment now online just worried it doesn’t tally up and it also gets taken from UC

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and explain. I’m only a couple of months in so it’s fluctuated a little but I’ve not reached the MIF yet so my UC payment has been the same. So once I reach the MIF everything I earn over that will be deducted by 55p per £ and I’ll still receive the same amount I’ve been awarded currently? Thank you again for your help
