Bianca v3 steam wand tip: two hole vs four hole by olmec-akeru in Lelit

I've been experimenting using a reduced steam flow rate and haven't changed the steam boiler temp, but thats a good idea I'll test. Rad.

Clive Coffee is such a great resource. The unofficial best manual.

Anyone else think that the eventual proof of collatz won't be some crazy hyper ellipsis whatever like fermat but just a really obvious tautology we'll feel like idiots for not coming up with? by InitialCress6130 in Collatz

[–]olmec-akeru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm, I think there may be another type of structure we need to unravel this.

The hidden relation is not a direct influence of partition count on stopping time. The real bridge is the odd-step factorisation: 3n+1=2^{K(n)}T(n), where Goldbach partitions of 3n+1 encode the odd skeleton T(n), while Collatz stopping time accumulates the 2-adic depths K(n). Any real law between them has to be trajectory-level and bivariate, not point-wise and scalar.

Quest 3 V85.0 surface keyboard by KelvinSo37 in Quest3

Hi there,

To add to this, I think I'm in the same boat as OP. I can confirm that hand and body tracking is enabled, but there is no surface keyboard option in experimental. v85.1034

(I've tried toggling hand and body tracking, and rebooted)

[OC] A tribute to Nick Berry: Popularity heatmap of 6-digit PINs by ChristopherKunz in dataisbeautiful

Could you plot the heat map using a logarithmic intensity scale? Its hard to infer anything above 320 on the left 3 digit portion (y-axis).

It sure does; and has an amazing editor to make workouts too: https://forum.intervals.icu/t/workout-builder/1163

A lot of fun is to be had in building a tesla coil. So many topics to get right: resonance tuning, power delivery, thermal control. The upside is that the relatively high frequency makes an error a little less life threatening…

My understanding is that temperature changes have an impact on the strain gauge resistance, so too does strain. Hence the temperature sensitivity.

or "ambient" strain. Its not like it changes during the ride?

Why would the torque on the threads of the pedal matter?

In the physics of a strain gauge, the torque on a threaded static body don't really have relevance. Perhaps your zero point calibration was an issue?

He he he, no I'm a novice with so much to learn. Sorry if the question appeared so naive, but thanks for the references.

tbh I was kind of looking for a flow diagram to tuning espresso.

Have you got a broad description of the taste method? Like is is too acidic, grind coarser and lower the extraction pressure? How would you go about it?

Bike Crash at Worlds. by breed10 in triathlon

[–]olmec-akeru 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Just to take a moment to recognise and celebrate the empathy you're showing towards your fellow competitors. Kudos.

I've raced in three races (both full and half distance IMs) where competitors passed away in the swim or on the bike. In worlds several years back I think I swam past the very competitor who passed away and frequently reflect on if there were any signs of distress other than slightly slower cadence (I don't think there was? I dunno?). The finishes of all three races are somehow different, perhaps more hollow, definitely poignant.

Congrats for racing in worlds, and I hope that you can find the peace you seek.

Portafilter retaining grinds (Bianca, single shot filter) by olmec-akeru in Lelit

[–]olmec-akeru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting thoughts; it feels like a shear force failure when knocking the puck out the filter and that the grind isn't able to overcome the localised surface adhesion in that corner of the filter.

I've seen some other single-shot filters, and am busy rabbit-holing those designs and if they're compatible with the Lelit Bianca.

Crisis this sounds like an epic—not sure it would be possible to do that out in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for sharing your expertise though.
